Today's Horse Racing
This is what my spreadsheet said about today: -
There are 523 runners today over 55 races, an average of 9 runners per race.
Based upon long term averages today's racing is likely to exhibit less volatility against what we would typically expect to see.
If all races start on time, then there will be 0 clashes today. If races start on their average start time (usually later than post time) then we could see 1 clashes.
I would expect total racing volume to be around £20m today. The average race will turnover around £600k.

I expect Highland Reel to do the business here! Some clever gambler backing this for well over 50k Adding the money slowly. Seen this happen few times now with a Obrien runner.

Just the way that was ridden is enough proof. This was a coup of months in the planning fair to say.

Just so people hve an idea, of a bookies life .. here some colour to the story.
Wolvo has 5 bookies or so .. I have an association with one of them.
The team, laid 10 ew at 200/1, and 2.50 ew, also 200/1. The betting software oncourse, allows u to green up, so, The rep, greened the win, but left the place.
As the win is on a PC account, he had 2 quid at 700, on the off,
so, when it won, didnt do much damage (thou, it killed his ready cash).
A few races later, still short of cash, and trying to stay out the way, a well-known heavy punter/trainer came in the ring. The horse was 20 on Bf, the other bookies put it 14, my bookie 12. The punter had 500 ew, all books.(except ours)
He reappeared 2 mins later, and had 500 ew all books at 10, (my book was 8, and was left out).
The horse romped in .. and the punter won about 50k, from the ring .. but, my book was unscathed.
Horses that win .. rarely go unbacked .. odd that.

You don't tend to see heavily backed horses winning on the exchange so I wonder if it's an on-course thing.
