I have a couple of technical questions I would like answered if anyone would be so kind.

The first is around event start times, I and I think I know the answer but would like conformation for peace of mind. If I back or lay a horse (or any sporting event for that matter) 5 seconds before the event start time via Guardian automation, is that 5 seconds before the scheduled start time or before the actual start time? I imagine it would be the scheduled start time as I can’t see how Guardian would know at what point a delayed start would occur. A follow up question would be do horse races ever go off early?

The second question is around automation as well. Is there any way of laying or backing a horse/s that is/are not the favourite, if they meet certain conditions? I know the criteria and that I could place the bet using the ANY selection, but this might place a bet on the favourite if it meets the criteria. I need to specifically exclude the favourite (and by extension maybe the 2nd or 3rd favourite etc). Could signalling do this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Q1, Yes its the schedualed start time or the time you have set in the 'Start time' column in guardian if you wish to edit it.
ie, you know all races at a meeting are going off 15 mins later than advertised you can manually change this time in that column so the rule still fires 5 secs before to official off.

UK races rarely go off early, i can count the number of times on one hand i have seen any go off before post time in last several months - US racing however tend to just go off when ever they want.

Q2, There is a few ways to do it but yes signals is probebly the easiest, trigger a set/modify signal on the fav just before your main rule is about to trigger then on your main rule include a condition that the signal named X is NOT set with a value
