This morning I watched a YouTube video on laying the field. Now I have been using this technique for specific races for about 10 months. But you have to be careful. Anyway, on his video he is using two lay odds in laying the field. Now on BetAngel, as far as I know, you can only use one lay odds, e.g. 1.25. However, in Tony's video he is laying the field twice at 1.51 and 1.61. I presume this means that your chances of winning are greater - or are they?
So my question is, can we set up BA for two or even more sets of lay the field odds?
Laying the Field with Two Sets of Odds
Click on the rule you've already made.
Click the copy button so you now have 2 rules.
On the copy change the odds to whatever you wish.
I've tried with any number of odds ranging from 1.1 to 5. Never worked for me.
I suspect you'll need information not available on this forum to make LTF profitable.

Actually, when I have traded LTF I usually play in-running and back the winner if I'm facing a loss.Rinoa wrote:Click on the rule you've already made.

Tried this yesterday and got 2 wins and 3 losses. One thing I noticed, pointless greening up, at least that is how it seemed.oliver123 wrote:This morning I watched a YouTube video on laying the field. Not sure on the approach. I tried at 1.65 and 1.55. Worth trying at varied odds that are not .5s but really not sure. Risk is much lower but surely there is a bigger chance on Hcap races of 2 or 3 horses dropping below 3 or 2.9 than 1.5... Opinions welcome. I also only go for 8 runners or more and currently collecting data on 2m and 3m Hcap races to see if there is much truth around avoiding those. Lately laying off top tipster selections has been better on wins.
On the settings for LTF and 2 bets, you simply create 2 lay bets. Create one, then copy it. Each identical except for 1) change the odds on each and 2) make sure the 2nd bet has the condition 'match bets on selection equal to zero'. So you will get 2 different horse selections.
Other than that, dunno. LTF must work...somehow. Lots doing it.
Interesting you back the winner if facing a loss but that can go tats up too.
When testing different odds the best way is usually to open a few instances of BA and use a rule in each with one set to LTF @ 1.80 another @ 1.70 and so on (or whatever odds you want to use), over time you can build up a picture of which odds work best.

Jolly Green provided some useful information on LTF in this thread:

Dallas, I'm just pondering on your comments above. If I open up a few instances of BA, would I then hit the problem of making too many calls to BF (and hitting some costs)?Dallas wrote:When testing different odds the best way is usually to open a few instances of BA and use a rule in each with one set to LTF @ 1.80 another @ 1.70 and so on (or whatever odds you want to use), over time you can build up a picture of which odds work best.
Is there anything I need to do, or can I just open up multiple copies of BA safely?
One final question if you don't mind. Can I have a 'Live' copy of BA open, AND also a 'Demo' copy of BA open at the same time?
Cheers.
