I'm often getting caught out with non-runners.... In your experience, if I spot a non-runner before if shows up in Betfair/Betdaq.... should I generally be laying or backing when trading on another horse... or leave the market well alone ??
Many Thanks
Non Runners
others will correct me here, but i think rule 4 comes into play when a non-runner occurs. my understanding is that you should avoid that market for a 60 minute period thereafter (tho the rule 4 itself states nothing to support this - probably urban myth being perpetuated!
).
as i said, that's my understanding
(not sure if this is 100% correct or not, but worth a read: http://www.betting-explained.com/rule-4-explained/).

It's usually better to take your hands off if a r4 is likely.
If you are trading something and the horse is a problem then it will start drifting in the market almost immediately so that will affect your position. The markets can go a bit bonkers when it happens so that's why I would recommend caution around these periods. Only about 5% of flat races generally get one and most at higher prices.
