Hi,
I have fairly recently started looking at bots, mainly for correct score football markets. If researched properly would it be possible to create a consistently profitable bot? Has anyone profited or no anyone that profits consistently off bots?

Thanks

Yep, there a few that lurk here that either program bots full time or as a side to a full time job 8-)

There are also a lot of companies/hedge funds that focus entirely on betting markets using stats/data.

The only bot I've managed to get consistently winning every day on all races is only trading to a maximum liability per race of £2 as I work from a bank of just £200. I have no stop losses (they invariably end up losing far more than they should, even pre-off in my experience) and set the bot to stop and green / hedge up at 15 mins before event start time.

I've tried in play and laying short favourites and all sorts with varying degrees of success, but none that lose less in a typical week that they make in an average day, which is my qualifying criteria.

Below are the screenies for the last 3 days, indeed yesterday I was home and managed to score a green on each of the 40 races I traded due to some manual intervention. Normally my strike rate is nearer 80% than 100% but rarely lower.

So, in short, yes, TRY IN PRACTICE MODE but eventually you may find one that gives sufficiently consistent gains for you to adopt. You are always tweaking and looking to maximise the margins ofc.

PeterLe gave me the inspiration to keep going until I'd cracked it and I will always be grateful to him and Dallas that helped me enormously when I first started my botting endeavours around a year ago... I believe Jimbit also has some success with bots too, and no doubt several others, not least Mr. Webb.

Good Luck and keep looking. It's nice when you get a consistent strategy that works over time, of which there are several be assured.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply's, its motivating knowing that it can be done!! :)

I'm guessing both of you trade horses before the off mainly? Do you think trading the correct score for football in-play can be fully automated or are there too many variables once it is in-play?

Thanks

If your entry and exit points are rules based then generally you should be able to convert them to a bot.

I personally do make profits from football, and specifically in-play as well. So yes, it can be done. I don't make as much on football as I do on racing, but I'm sure there are people who make lots more on football than I do.

There are currently over 1,000 games listed on Betfair for the next 2-3 days, so I'm sure you'll find an opportunity or two in there! Make £1 per game and you're laughing all the way to the bank

Easier said than done of course ;)

Sounds easy when you put it that way !!

I also have a question that you may be able to answer.

When creating an automation can you link different markets. For example link the correct score market to the match odds market. I was wanting to back a particular correct score in play but only when the favourites match odds were below 1.3 but I'm not sure if that could be done.

You can do anything you like if you're programming it yourself.

If you're asking whether BetAngel automation can do it, I'm not the best person to ask. I expect it can though. But I'll leave a definitive answer for someone with more knowledge.

Not possible in Guardian automation. But it's possible in Excel. Watch some of Peter Webb's videos where he shows you how to get different markets working in different tabs on the same spreadsheet.

Can someone help me with this as i don't understand?! :?

I am focusing on the correct score market and in a game that is playing now a goal just went in. In the log it says i placed a bet at odds of 3.1 but looking at the graph the odds never went that low.

Any ideas why this happened?

" £ 15.00 Back bet placed on 1 - 1 at 3.1. Fully matched at 3.1"

I have inserted a picture of the graph to show it didn't go to 3.1

i am guessing 2 reasons:
1) The graph is 5 second granular so may not show sudden dips and rise in price.
2) Practice mode matches as soon as the price touches, ignoring queuing which occurs in live.
