It's not simply "an error of judgement", he knew what he was doing, and the FA have done the right thing in getting rid imho.
Greedy idiot.

It's hard to blame the FA but I'm not sure that we as a society gain more than we lose by the sort of sting the Telegraph pulled on Allardyce.

exposing crooks and keeping them out of power is what we gain.shakespeare wrote:It's hard to blame the FA but I'm not sure that we as a society gain more than we lose by the sort of sting the Telegraph pulled on Allardyce.
the fact is that the Telegraph wouldn't have bothered if they thought Allardyce was straight. but they knew he was dodgy (as did many of us) and set out to test him. he failed. good riddance.

Like superfrank says, the rumours were out there....So it should have been the FA exposing this rather than the Telegraph. I'm just using the same logic as the recent issue about that blond bloke at the BBC. 'yeah we knew he was ify, but he was popular so we turned a blind eye'.superfrank wrote:exposing crooks and keeping them out of power is what we gain.shakespeare wrote:It's hard to blame the FA but I'm not sure that we as a society gain more than we lose by the sort of sting the Telegraph pulled on Allardyce.

100% right. he makes my blood boil trying to suggest that he was 'entrapped' or 'framed'. The man was/is CROOKED, and not fir to represent the highest standards of English decency.superfrank wrote:exposing crooks and keeping them out of power is what we gain.shakespeare wrote:It's hard to blame the FA but I'm not sure that we as a society gain more than we lose by the sort of sting the Telegraph pulled on Allardyce.

Takes 2 to tango, agents might lead the dance but they need a partner they can hold close.Euler wrote:A well know manager goes to the same gym as me and we had a coffee this morning and chatted about it. He was pretty nervous just talking to me, but felt it was agents that have corrupted the system and that was the cause of most of the ills.

It's staggering to believe a man who just been given his dream job, at 61 years of age with a salary of £3M, would then jeapordise that within weeks for a backhander on how to get around rules put in place by his employers
