Received an e-mail through my Yahoo account this morning, the opening paragraph of which is:
Following media reports about stolen Yahoo data, we have identified that you registered your account using a Yahoo email address. We recognise that security details are often used across multiple websites. If this is the case for you, we advise you to change your Betfair password and consider changing the answers to your security questions.
Have any of you guys received this message today?? Or is it a scam? Can't trust anybody these days!!

I can't confirm the authenticity of this message but what I will suggest to everyone, is that when you get an email of this type do NOT follow any embedded links. They are easy to spoof and can take to anywhere
...and if it proports to be from Betfair or anyone else who you might want to take notice of.. type the url into a browser yourself. But only do so if the top level domain (the first bit after the www) is as you would expect. So nothing like gimmeinfo.betfair.com.
Yahoo has been seriously hacked so not a bad idea to change passowords everywhere. Funny thinbg about this story though is that the hacking took place in 2014 as far as i can tell.

There has been a recent security breach/hack of yahoo accounts. Although it may not be necessary in all cases it would be advisable to change passwords just in case your yahoo account has been hacked.
Edit: As ShaunWhite says, go direct to Betfair rather than click email links.

My problem with this story is that the hacking occurred two years ago and only now the information is being released to the public. Perhaps Yahoo were told by the authorities to keep quiet about it, as they suspected a foreign government were involved.
This does mean however that the hackers had a lot of time to get up to all sorts of things with the hacked information.

Such a long time between hack and discovery is not uncommon. There have been many well known ones recently, for example Dropbox last month about a hack that took place 4 years previous and many many more not so well known ones.
