It's based on the exchange odds, don't like it, lay it!

There hasn't been much decent racing on this week (so far).

Would you be able to a video on a how to trade/what to look for on a 'decent race' Euler? :) I really struggle trading the ones with little movement. I'll double/triple my stakes, then get steamrolled

- Anything with a favourite trading above 4.0 always has my pants down (usually it's the high-quality races)!

This last race was a good example of what I would say is a nasty favourite!

I'd be happily scalping the range, bang out to 5.0, then for no reason - permanently reverses.

Maybe it's the scalpers like me causing the price to drift like that after the range breaks? In hindsight obviously a back at 5.0 would have been nice - but I could see no reason for a reversal like that. Any help would be apprciated :)

In comparison - a weak Irish race. Easiest move all day long! Large bet breaks the range at 2.50, lay it hard! The quality races should be the easiest, but for a swinger like me they are hellish!

I asked this before and it kind of fell on deaf ears. It's one thing that the drift exhausts itself etc but its another thing for it to collapse back down no?

Peter, would be great if you could do a video on this to maybe give some inspired thoughts??

The favourite was getting a lot of support so that put pressure on that runner until it popped. The run back in had no particular reason as far as I could see, but I was out by then anyhow.

Hmm, had a quick look back as well. Wondered if anyone has done any research on applying chart patterns used in financial markets to horse racing? That reversal looks like it was a double top.

Fascinating analogy. Hadn't thought of a price being under 'pressure' the further it rises and falls. I have seen behaviour like this before. It pays to be contrarian! Of course sometimes, like today, I waited for the reversal that never came..

Dallas, that is quite reassuring to hear from an experienced member, along with what Peter mentioned previously.. I thought my execution was lacking, probably still is to a degree but knowing that the markets have been poor the last week or so is good to hear (if you see what I mean from my point of view..)

Hasn't been great since the delay at Hexham last Saturday, although had a half decent Sunday, guess I'm learning the hard way eh?, not the best time of year to start trading 'all guns blazing' et al?

Going to take tomorrow off and attack the day on Saturday, unless tomorrow looks promising obviously.

Bit of background, (if anyone's interested?), been trading for a year (very badly & haphazard) but only 'til recently attended a 'Horse Racing Workshop', first few days after the course went swimmingly, took a few days off work and profited three days on the bounce, went back to work and since then whenever I've had the chance to trade its been on my days off, which are, yep you've guessed it Monday's & Tuesdays & Saturdays & Sundays, (7 day week / 3 day week) over a fortnight, so I get to trade 4 days over two weeks which isn't ideal, no continuity and unable to trade evening races as finish 7pm~ish.

Now hired an office out as I'm totally unable to do this at home..

too many distractions, semi detached house overlooks school sports field and we have a very vociferous Burmese cat, to boot next door neighbour has hearing aid and likes us to hear whatever he's playing on his HiFi.. you get the picture SO pretty much was up against it when it comes to focusing with concentration, I KNOW I can do this as the days I have profited have been three figures..

The missus is behind me doing this & last couple of weeks I think have been really tough, however me being me I'm very self critical, convinced myself with poor results that with inexperience I'm missing something when a trade doesn't work out, possibly my inexperience is when to 'keep the powder dry' etc, I guess that will come in time.

.. anyway onward & upward eh?

Apologies for the exhaustive post ;)

Intresting post Koratt and good to hear its going much better since your course, it cant be emphasized enough how important it is to be able to trade with no distractions no matter how small so putting yourslf in an enviroment where there is none should always be one of the first steps taken.
Having support from the wife, partner or family is a definate plus.

This time of year where about to make the transistion from flat to NH anyone new who has only traded the summer markets will get a bit of a shock around now as there will be a noticable change in the markets but its all part of the yearly cycle and just takes a few adjustments but as the NH proper gets going in the coming weeks things will start to settle back down

Ps, nice looking set up :D
