i hope Peter doesn't mind me posting this , it would be good to have his and every other BA users support on the subject below , whether they pay the Premium Charge ( PC ) or not , as one day you might have to pay PC . please read all of the thread and if i have missed anything out or if people have better suggestions please feel fee to add them to this thread . thank you

dear bet angel users

the governments Competition and Markets Authority are looking into how the online bookmakers are treating their customers "fairly" , here is the link to their website page on the matter , at the bottom of the page is their email address to send complaints to , please use it . if you would rather stay anonymous and not use your own email , you can make a new email address in 2 minutes at mail.com , but please keep your username and passwords you use from it as you may need it to correspond in the future with the CMA . here is the link

https://www.gov.uk/cma-cases/online-gambling

this could be the only chance that betfair users have to have the Premium Charge reviewed by government , to make it "fairer" by either reducing the percentage brackets , removing PC all together , and who knows , maybe even betfair will have to give back what has been taken in an unfair manner , like PPI did .

"The CMA is investigating whether online gambling companies are treating their customers fairly"

that is what the CMA are investigating , i think betfair users are not being treated "fairly" with the PC charge . so the subject title in the email to the CMA should be along the lines of "unfair charges from bookmaker " , and then tell them of your experience and why you think it is unfair . it is also misuse of the competitions market as betfair are "abusing their power of a dominant position" ( this should be mentioned in the email too ) as they have the most liquidity they can abuse their market position .

if everyone that pays PC sends the CMA an email , we may get them to review it .
please tell everyone you know that pays PC to email the CMA , and everyone that uses betfair should also send an email even if they dont pay PC now , they may do in the future , so it could effect them to.

i am a 20% PC payer , straight backing or laying, no in play betting , no advantages , i think it is very unfair .

i think if we all send the CMA an email in the next 2 weeks about the PC being "unfair" to its customers , we might just get them interested into looking into it while they are looking at the "fairness of online gambling "

we have nothing to lose .

Thanks for the heads up. If enough people respond what is the likelihood of the CMA doing something.

afternoon bonnie

as you and others know , since the PC came in there have been no changes to it , no investigations from the governing bodies , no one bringing them to court ( as far as we are aware ) .

this CMA investigation is as close as we will get for some one with authority to look at the PC .

if enough people complain and bring this to their attention there is every chance they will have to look at it in the context of "fairness" , which is what the CMA are looking into .

i think that if enough people send them emails about the PC , they will have more people complaining about the PC than bookies promotions , cancelling bets , limiting stakes etc .

at the very least we can make them aware that there is a problem and that PC payers and non PC payers feel like they are being ripped off .

this is our only chance we have had where by an authoritative government body are actually asking us to email them , so we have to give it a go .

but we need everyone to email them . every PC payer, and people who dont pay PC .

i have informed all of my gambling friends to send emails , which they will do , i hope everyone else will ask there betting friends to do the same .

even when i did not pay PC , i didn't agree with it

I'm no-where near paying PC charges and very unlikely to anytime soon, however I echo this sentiment. It's simply extortion as I see it.

What happened to 'winners welcome'?

winners are still welcome, it is just that betfair will want to take 20-60 percent of your profit.

this is not advertised .

will you be sending an email crazy ?

if i could ask people to "spread the word" about this thread and what we are trying to achieve as a collective , that would help enormously . please post where ever you see fit to post links to this thread to make others aware , on whatever platforms will help .

thank you

a friendly reminder for betfair users to email the cma complaining of the Premium Charge and its unfairness

please email CMA and ask friends to do the same .

please if you can , spread the word about this thread on other platforms where you think it will receive the most views and responses .

this is not from a selfish point of view . i never agreed to the PC even when i didn't pay it , and you may one day be successful and have to pay it to . this could be our only chance to have a governing body review the Premium Charge and its unfairness and have something done about it , whether that is removing it or reducing it, 60% PC is damn theft .

thank you
