If you don't fancy going down the guardian/bot route to stop going in play, then take a look at what Dallas does. Read his reply to my post in this short thread here, I think its a pretty good idea to have some kind of protection against system failures. By system failure I mean loss of electricity supply, loss of broadband, Betfair fails etc.

Thanks all my returns so far on small bets and being cautious:

Horse racing in-play 1.33 and then click left mouse to back horse about 90% win on the flat, thi s has rapidly gone to 75% over the jumps.

So each flat race i had 33% return but not take into account the ew lost races.

Over jumps my return is less as lost 25% of races so will be ultra cautious and think will wait til flat season comes back.

2.5+ goals about 90% wins, the only times i lost was when could not get to laptop because of work time to green up to reduce the loss. I know a lot about soccer as been to 56 away grounds and attended thousands of games, been manager of local teams, took referee exam with tom reynolds many years ago lol.

I use soccer stat sites to see goals scored and conceded in last few games, weather, never place trade before team announced, what is motivation of teams, need win, draw ok for cup, position in table, but mainly are they attacking or park the bus teams, half time is when i green up.

Bank £128 turned into £196, in play horse racing 1.33 aprox and 2.5 goals 10% of bank.

Had a gamble on argentina to come back to beat paraguay recently and lost a bet after a few pints of real ale lol learnt my lesson there.

Will take a screen shot of my trades this saturday to see what i can turn £40 into, i found my best saturday was sitting in cafe nero paddington with my headphones on doing in-play and 2.5 trades. and watching betangel videos as well.

Everytime you inadvertantly go in-play, jab a pencil in your leg, hard. You'll soon get out of the habit.

Someone mentioned backup systems.. fyi I use
A UPS for when the leccy goes (happens about once a quarter here and the broadband cabinet in the street runs on batteries for about an hour).
A 3g connection for when BT goes down (My pc is wired BT and wireless 3g).
Betfair in a browser incase BA crashes (it NEVER has)
Betdaq for when Betfair goes down, obviously.
A laptop for if the pc crashes...but it never has.
And crossed fingers if everything goes at the same time.

The UPS is the best thing I ever bought for under £100, no more rushing to the laptop at the time you least need distractions or trying to remember what you were doing. It only powers me for about 2 mins but that's plenty of time to close out.
