Big lay for me this one, MON is no fool and is not likley to leave Villa for a club that is in the mess that Liverpool are in... no money, players wanting to leave... owners that the fans hate.... hit the lay button I saywrexham casual wrote:Get your money on Martin O'Neil to be next liverpool manager

I was initially tempted to agree with that assessment. I'm not sure why O'Neill would want to go to Liverpool. But there has to be a reason why the price is so low for him in particular.
Also, before giving Benitez such a glittering golden handshake, you'd have thought that Liverpool would have had a top manager waiting in the wings.
As a Man U fan, I hope they get Sven Goran Erikkson or Graeme Souness! Or that bloke who managed Newcastle not so long ago, and likes to swear at the press...

It is because so many people think he is the logical choice, but trust me he isn'tBut there has to be a reason why the price is so low for him in particular.

Possibly - I just wonder whether it's because he's dropped a hint or Anfield have approached him.
I think O'Neill would be a great Liverpool boss, as he's a top manager. Whether he would want it is another matter though!
Benitez made some controversial decisions, but you don't win the Champions League by being a duff manager. The problems go much deeper than the manager, as Liverpool will discover next season!

HI
As they say the king is dead long live the king, but please god let us not be gifted Martin O'Neal; I'd prefer Martin Mc Guinness.
The Champion's League win was due to another lightweight Harry Kewell going off injured and Didi Hamman coming on. Benetez's downfall has been his stubborn attitude inept purchases Ngog WHO exactly!! and discord with Alonso and Arbeloa (or however you pronounce) who are quite happy at Real Madrid. If he could have keot his gob shut when Second in the league and concentrated on winning not what everyone else was doing
The big problem was not buying David Villa when they bought Torres they could have got him for around 25M injured as he was at the time as they have done with Aquilani. Just having the 1 striker has been a recipe for disaster. As a Liverpool fan I'm glad we did not make 4th spot limping to the line has been a disgrace as this was bound to happen at some time.
Time to wake up n smell the Costa Coffee.

I'm glad he's gone to be honest and relatively cheaply by all accounts. As a Liverpool fan myself I think he was held with too high esteem amongst most Liverpool fans. Sure, he won the Champions League in hist first year, but was that really his team? It was still full of Houliers players, so he got too much credit for that in my opinion.
I agree that the guy is so stubborn (he obviously did not get on with a lot of the players) that he will/has made decisions to the teams detriment just to get his own way.
I also agree that the problems are more deep rooted at Liverpool than just the manager, the sooner the current clowns who own the club feck off, the better!

Here here, Spikey
Moreover I think that David Moores and Rick Parry are guilty as charged in most fans eyes and also culpable for the mess that we are in. So So depressing I can understand how it must be being an Evertonian only kiddin
Oh how I wish we were on a sound footing with some structure and direction. Joking apart you have to admire Bill Kenwright and Davey Moyes.

You are right about that most fans have been so loyal as to not truely see the wood for the trees anyone who said otherwise was shouted down. Such loyalty and respect has to earnt and whilst Rafa was able to command this at times the negative aspect of Yankee Doodle & FogHorn Leghorn who don't even speak to each other could not be overcome.SpikeyBob wrote: the sooner the current clowns who own the club feck off, the better!

Is it just me, or has the market underestimated the chances of certain managers taking over at Liverpool?
For example, Stuart Pearce is available to back at 200. Given that he's a former Premiership manager and a key member of the England management team, he shouldn't be a 200-1 shot! And Steve McClaren is available to back at 400! From what I hear, McClaren is doing great things in the Netherlands right now, and as a former Middlesbrough and England boss, surely his chances have to be higher than 1 in 400!
What do you guys think?

No it's about right,
400/1; I'd give him 400notes to stay where he is he may have done marvelous things with the Dutch 20 Twente side. But you are having a Rip van Tinkle Liverpool are in enough trouble without him pitching up. Let him have a cake an a smile an stay the F away. He might be a really nice Guy socially though Soz.

If the likes of Wenger and Morinho were queuing up to manage Liverpool, I'd say that most Premiership managers and ex-managers wouldn't stand a chance.
But as things are, I'd say that the likes of Steve Bruce (300-1) are in with a much better shout than their odds suggest.

Not with his Manure connections though mateBut as things are, I'd say that the likes of Steve Bruce (300-1) are in with a much better shout than their odds suggest.

I wouldn't be so sure...
We're in an football era when money and results speak much louder than club allegiances.
And I'd say that the fact that Bruce has worked with the footballing genius cum living legend which is Sir Alex is a plus, not a negative...
