Oldest Betfair account?

I just checked the creation date on my Betfair account on their Live Chat. I was quite suprised, 28 Dec 2000. And I couldn't even pursuade them to send me a mug!

I'd guess Mr Euler is a June 2000 ?

I wish I'd taken it all a bit more seriously, I've only ever dipped in and out of it until this year. It's put Mr E's years of graft into perspective, it's been a long time.

"If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" ...interestingly that's stamped round the edge of a £2 (min bet) coin. That's worth remembering when you're turning those £2 coins into fivers instead of into pound notes.

Oldest Betfair account for me is April 2001, I was always a Flutter player rather than Betfair , in my opinion they had a much better platform , easier to scrape, cheaper commission etc. Sadly they just never had the long term view that Betfair did. They seemed to be yet another company in the dotcom boom set up to be sold on. Flutter were miles ahead with the technology and it's no surprise Betfair used the flutter interface rather than their clunky flash based one after the takeover.

Those early exchange days were a bit like the wild west with no reduction factors for non runners, markets still running after the result was in etc etc. There was healthy competition in the exchange market with plenty of companies trying their luck too. I remember Coral's short lived Play2Match site which must have confused the hell out of people as it was so easy to make money on, a sad day for me when they pulled the plug on that one
