Going to be a surreal day for racing, I dont even remember the times before Channel 4 racing. Quiet fitting that one of the last races will be the Desert Orchid Chase.

I just hope ITV dont make a mess of it the way they did with the F1

Will miss Nick Luck but Channel 4 racing ain't what it used to be, so ITV are going to be pretty inept if they make it worse.

ITV racing, It will be like the good old days again.
All we need now is Mick McManus vs Giant Haystacks on at teatime and Bob Colston reading the classified results.

They need to hire Dave Nevison to tell viewers what the odds were a few minutes ago. Bound to be a winner!

Funnily enough on Dec 31st.....

"World of Sport Wrestling makes a historic and triumphant return to ITV for a one-off special, with an exciting mix of fast paced action and family fun for all. "

I feel old now as I remember the days of the ITV7 :(

Hard to imagine they be any worse than the current C4 coverage plus they'll most likely have more money to chuck at it.

The last ITV Seven came from Kempton Park and Thirsk on 7 September 1985, three weeks before the last World of Sport, which only covered one meeting, at Redcar. ITV's midweek racing coverage had already been on Channel 4 since 22 March 1984; from 5 October 1985 the Saturday afternoon coverage also moved to the fourth channel, permanently becoming Channel 4 Racing, although it was reduced in scope considerably at the start of 1986, and would not become as extensive as it was in the ITV era until the late 1990s.
Last one in 1985 makes me feel a bit younger as I never actually bet on one :) As a kid I do remember those old teleprinter days that made keeping track of Saturday afternoon football scores much more exciting. Kids of today have it all at the touch of a button but I guess it now means very little to them.

I have every confidence in ITV and that they will do a superb job.

Until they cut to the adverts in the final 30 seconds of The Grand National.
