Can someone explain to me what happened in this automated bet? I was practicing with the Lay Outsider after Good Go.
I was hoping for it to be matched at 10.0 as per at bet, but it matched lower, at 4.2.

In other practices it lays a bet at 10.0 but they aren't matched.
Thanks Andy
Layed at 10.0 but matched at 4.2?
andy,
in-play, there is a 1 second delay, so it's more than likely that your bet got matched as the odds shortened back down (betfair will always match at the best market price). also, there are gaps (which can be exploited), which you may just have hit too. If the runner lost the race (i.e. won for you), then all good. otherwise, i'd suggest strongly looking at (even video recording) each race to establish the book% when your bets are being placed. you may just find a little nugget when you explore this dimension.

That's really helpful.
And so those races where the lay went in at 10.0 but weren't matched at all were probably races where the horses were drifting out very quickly, and they went from 7.0 to past 10.0 within that second?

Thanks so much. I can tell you are giving me a good pointer, and maybe after some experience of doing this I will understand what you mean - the significance of book% is beyond my current understanding, and I don't even know where to find it.
No worries...

Thats right if it continues drifting fast then it could go unmatched - you will never be matched at a worse price than you place the bet at only at the odds or betterandygreen1965 wrote:That's really helpful.

If you want to play about and experiment with this on the condtions tab the 'fixed odds condtion' tells the rule at what odds to trigger your bet, so if you found you where not getting matched much you could trigger your bet at shorter odds
On the parameters tab is where you tell the rule what odds to 'place' your bet at, this is currently set to 10.0 but you could increase this as well
