Saw people discussing it on Twitter recently and was wondering what others think about Betfair using it and for what exact purpose.

Saw the same conversation and searched my PC for it.

Found it in 5 folders.

Deleted them but have no doubt they'll return despite having malware protection software installed.

I found it in 5 folders as well. Are you using the Privacy Badgerr software that people recommend to use against this or something else?

I think most if not all bookies now use it. They say its to help catch money launderers, but I imagine they make much more use of it to find match bettors.

Kai - here's a list from an arbuser.com forum post,
After doing some research in several sites I found this sites using iesnare

To date the following gaming sites have been flagged as POTENTIAL (ie some are unconfirmed) users of iesnare:

Bodog
Sportingbet
Bet365
Jaxx
Noxwin
Miapuesta
Bluesquare
Intertops
BetUK
Ladbrokes
Bwin
Unibet
Betcris
Virgin Casino
i4poker
doylesroomcasino
Mansion88
BetUS.com
Chilibet/poker/etc
Skybet
Diamond
Paddy Power
Foxy Casino
William Hill
Paf
Coral
Funny that MI5, MI6,GCHQ, The Met, HRMC, etc.etc - are not on the list. It's not Spyware - it's "reputation management" for Bookies!!!!!

Thanks kerberus :)

Well they might as well add Betfair to that list, it's right there in their website code for everyone to see (when you hit F12 with your browser and do a search for iesnare).

I deleted all of the trackers yesterday from my PC and I already have a fresh one from 10:28 this morning, which is the exact time when I logged into Betfair. Pretty annoying but I don't have any other bookies accounts and don't do anything shady like trying to avoid the premium charge etc so I guess the tracker itself is harmless if you have nothing to hide. But no wonder that people who use bookies for bonuses and other stuff get their accounts closed so fast nowadays.

Kai, Betfair is owned by paddypower and betdaq is labroke's -- they gotcha!!
But your're right, just murder people, become a terrorist or something minor - just don't fiddle bookies!
:D :P
