Anyone ever been to a race with Betfair VIP hospitality? Few questions:

1) What types of people are present - fellow traders? BF employees (what types - head honchos? random employees getting a perk? VIP/customer relations type of people?)
2) Is there much business talk going on (e.g. talking about how you trade, future BF plans, premium charges, etc.)?
3) Any other comments on the experience?

I can help you here but I am not sure it will be answer you are hoping for!

I attended VIP hospitality and thoroughly enjoyed it to be honest. However, I was really surprised by the clientele sharing the room.

A few "players" in the room were known to me as friends and/or acquaintances. They were not pure traders as such but they were involved from time to time. There were also owners of horses present but that's about it.

To be honest the remainder were pure backers, both win and each way and had no knowledge of laying, let alone trading! I started a conversation with one guy on how I traded a steaming price and basically his eyes glazed over. The lights were on but nobody was home and he had absolutely no idea what I was saying.

The food and drink were great and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Forgive the pun but never look a gift horse in the mouth was my motto!

I've had a few Ladbrokes tickets to Premier League games and once had the full works at Trafford Park watching England play cricket with drinks, food, a Rep and great seats etc...

I even had some wine at Christmas once : - ) Those were the days I was a typically affluent 'mug punter' and lost far more than the value of the jolly.

I also had some amazing 'comps' in Vegas with lots of merchandise and even $180 free tickets to see Elton John and his Red Cherry performance at Ceaser's Palace. They do it very well in Vegas and me and the Mrs. were only playing the machines with the comp cards, mostly poker machines.

Never had any from BF though - I just don't lose enough and it's mostly exchange rather than Sportsbook I guess.

That was what I deduced about 90% of the clientele in the box, they were losing money and keeping Betfair happy!

Good to see you posting again JG, I have missed reading your posts the last couple of months. I have read that you have some health problems, so I hope everything is good for you and you are able to once again make your excellent contributions to this forum.

Thank you.

My health is 100% better but I just seem so busy with other things. I will try and become more involved with the forum

Thanks for the replies!

So is it all BF clientele in these VIP boxes, or are there BF employees too?
