How do you delete a rules file?

We were all new to Bet Angel once. Ask any question you like here and fellow forum members promise not to laugh. Betfair trading made simple.

I have rules files showing in my Guardian>Rules file name dropdown that I can't edit, the error is "Unable to open the automation rules file". How do I remove them from the list as the Delete rules file option is on the rules edit screen, which I can't access.? I can create, import, export, edit (theoretically)....but not delete.

The dud rules files are my fault, I was editting a baf file ouside of BA and imported it. It imported OK but it must have contained flaws as I can't edit it in BA :(

It all started because I was trying to get around the issue whereby you can't run 2 rules against the same event on the same account, and I was trying to glue 2 bafs together to make one rules file that contained both sets of rules. One is pre-post the other is IP, next time I'll key it in again in to a new rule, rather then editting bafs.

If you did a standard Windows install on your C drive, go to:
C\Users\Shaunwhite(Or whatever your username is)\AppData\Roaming\Bet Angel\Bet Angel Professional(or Trader maybe, mine is Professional)\Automation

All your .baf's should be there so you can delete the bad one. Failing that, search your drive for *.baf and make a shortcut to the folder so you can find it for future reference.

I found it previously trying to back up my automations to save in Gmail in case my PC ever dies :)

Thanks for the time you spent replying, but I was just going to post a message to say I'd just found it. :oops:

I'll just add that you need to exit BA and reload before the change is noticed in case anyone else had the same question.

Is it possible to recover deleted file?
I wanted to delete one rule in a file, but by mistake I deleted the whole rule files that I was making for almost 2 weeks :oops:

If you used the red cross icon within the rules editor unfortunately not, unless you have a program to recover deleted files and even then there's no guarantee it will be fully intact
