I have seen my invested amount grow by 7 fold in just over a year. I have learnt a lot from Peter and the forum and i want to thank you for that. Do you have any tips on making and sustaining a living full time?
I am 19 and in an unstable but well paying job i have incredible passion for sports and trading the array of markets available on betfair.
Any help appreciated
Thanks

If you've found a well paying job at your age, and in this economic climate...stick at it for a few years, and build up your savings. Use your trading to buy your nights out and holidays and gradually build your stakes. If you're profitable you can raise your stakes, when a few hours PT is making as much as your job FT....then maybe it's time to make the leap.Rstrach wrote:I have seen my invested amount grow by 7 fold in just over a year. I'm 35yrs older than you so I have a very different set of priorities and attitude to risk. Aside from the money, another consideration is the social side. Trading is a lonely business, I miss having work mates sometimes and the ones you have/had will drift away. Not a big deal if you're happy on your own but without sounding patronising, at your age, mates are important. My son (25) spent his best years gaming instead of being 'out there' and he regrets it now.Rstrach wrote:SOund advice my friend. Seems a good idea the only issue is my company are teetering and it may fold so looking for plans for near future ideally but if we brave the storm im all ears.
Cheers
The people I've known who successfully make a living from betting, or in fact any major career move, have all been able to know for themselves when to take that leap not from posting a sentence on the internet and taking advice from random people.
Only you know what that 7 fold increase is in real terms and whether you'd be able to consistently win more than you're currently earning.

Well done Rstrach! What bank did you start with and what stakes are you using if you don't mind me asking?
I'd agree with the above comment though, hang on to your job for as long as possible and then there's no pressure. You may find that pressure changes how you trade if you know you've got to earn so much in the month to stay afloat.
I stepped down in my job and went part time to concentrate on learning how to trade, I'm struggling though I'll be honest!!

You should seek advice from anyone and everyone.Pinnochio wrote: know for themselves when to take that leap not from posting a sentence on the internet and taking advice from random people.
Whether you take it is down to your personality, experiences, wisdom & cynicism.
One day, someone somewhere will say something you've never thought of and it will resonate, to think otherwise is arrogance in the extreme. Two ears and one mouth....
He was just asking for advice, not looking for people to tell him what to do.
Shaun white i see what you mean but i cant see it being an issue particularly as all main markets i trade are during the day and once ive made enough i stop for day and concentrate on life im an MMA fighter by night and have a house and missus that need time lol. Thanks for advice though mate can never take enough and want a full perspective before i jump into it. Pinochio mate have a day off im young and keen to learn!! Yorkshire pud i started around £500 and use £25 stakes usually. it takes time but im a patient kind. Also how are you struggling i get good consistent info from a friend that is a work rider so most of my biggest trades swing off this. I always like to hear from ev eryone from all stages and help me build my journey to a succesful one!!

We'll show you our advice if you show us yoursRstrach wrote:i get good consistent info from a friend that is a work rider so most of my biggest trades swing off this.

....seriously though, factor those 'tipp off' trades OUT of or stats. You can't rely on that being a source of info that's available long term.
But in your favour, you're smart and young enough to have a nice soft trainable brain. You'll do well I reckon.
