I thought this deserved its own topic.

The first showing of the peagasus word cup is off at 10.40pm Saturday 28th January. I know its early days but this is going to be seen as the greatest Horse Race in the world one day. Bigger then Breeders cup, Dubai world cup and champion stakes.

I think I will be! Strange how they normally don't put Gulfstream races up but they've got every race tonight.

Will be a lot of mixed opinions in this no doubt, Chrome deserved to win last start and going a furlong shorter and getting weight off Arrogate this time you'd have thought he'd be favourite! But that barrier 12

No it will not be seen as. The " greatest horse race in the world " period !!

Prize money does not make races great .. or the horses that win them great ... just look at the " goffs million" sales races with their huge purses

20/1 bar two horses... hardly competitive or a great field
Doesn't attract the depth of quality of horses at the Dubai Carnival or Breeders Cup ... the whole concept is flawed and will attract very little kudos anywhere outside the U.S .. tho arguably the top two in the betting are the two best racehorses in the world ( rated 1/2 on Timeform global ratings )

I'd much prefer horses to be invited to participate on their merits rather than the size of their owners bank balance



The undercard is mediocre . Compare this with the first Breeder Cup or Dubai Carnival cards

But worth a watch to see California Chrome and Arrogate renew rivalry .. but will never be seen as the greatest horse race in the world !!

Massive anti climax ... well done to Arrogate a top class horse .. but as for the race .. California Chrome didn't run his race ,. And the rest were very poor

The dubai world cup carnival is hoping so as Arrogate would've probably gone there if this race hadn't have popped up! Some nice liquidity though
