Haven't really got time to make a write up but I think La Vie En Rose will win the 6.25 Chelmsford. Joe fanning only ride. Mark Johnson horses usually make the running and has been held up on all starts bar the last. No pace in the race and Chelmsford favours front runners. Solid form IMO. Expecting a little gamble here. Currently 3rd favourite.
Oh and word from a connection ;)

Excluding the 19:00 which had corrupted data. You would have earned £171.68 today, by backing with £100 when I arrived in each market and hedging at post time.

Do you mind me asking, are these your best trades per mkt? or averaged back/lay prices per mkt? or something else? I find it hard to imagine you just having one trade in each race. I'm guessing it's your average back and lay odds. If you do have just the one trade, then I'm massively overtrading!

This is just some of the data I collect, it just stood out that since the bomber turned up the other week the market has been very favourable to a back to lay on the favourite.

I haven't had a losing day for ages, but that's because I look across the field for the best opportunity rather than limiting myself to the favourite.

I think this all depends on ones style of trading. I am sure I read recently on here somewhere that Adam Heathcote would average around 10 trades per race. I know people who only do around 3 or 4 trades per day, but still do extremely well.

I think this is where personality comes into it, not many people would have the patience to watch maybe 10 or more races in a row and not make a single trade because the conditions were not exactly what they were looking for.

I agree, plenty of ways to do a profitable trade.

Euler, Are these the best results of 2 control files - or just one that also chooses whether to B or L extremely well?

Just control data. I collect a lot all the time, mainly for archiving, but regularly review it. It was surprising to see how +ve is has been recently,

hi blue,

yah it's true, i spent an afternoon scouring his posts & comments, to go into my pre-race stalking files :D turns out he was a keen scalper throughout his time as a trader, but not a 'pure' scalper (i.e. 1 tick). i always assumed he was an outstanding swing trader with the £1k+ days, but he clearly was ambidextrous.

"I think I scalped on two horses to get that result (£135 profit)"

"I look for quick scalps and big swings - it's best for making money no matter what the market is doing."

"I do trade every race (pretty much), even if I don't predict any kind of trend."

"I'm not sure how many trades I average per race. Probably an average of say 10 as mentioned above, probably around 10 trades I reckon, on average. Number of ticks on average per trade I think is about 1 I think, taking into account losses."

"Handicaps. Best advice is to simply scalp them - scalp them with an opinion that if it does go one way, be ready to place your bet in that direction - or double up so you cancel your trade plus one going the way it's about to move."

"I probably say I make a bit more from scalping; well medium term scalps of about 3 ticks. Second, 1 tick scalps, then swing term trading last - but all still profitable for me."

Dont forget those comments were from many years ago. The markets are probably more swingy now and therefore harder or more dangerous to scalp
