Hello my name is Michael and it is pleasure to be part of this forum.
I usually trade tennis, but I tried horse trading last week. I´ve read many tutorials, seen many videos and tried scalping. I´ve noticed that in many races there is a huge price movement (4-10 ticks) 5 minutes before the start of the race. Could you explain me what is behind that, please?
Thank you :)

A surge of money will come as the previous race ends which is often around this time, also a lot of bots are set to start triggering on 5mins to go so a fairly dead market can for a few seconds at least spring to life as they all start triggering bets.

What you might find useful is if you create an advanced chart and plot price and volume for each market and capture the charts for analysis later.

If you study how volume affects price you'll very quickly start to figure out what's really going on. There are a lot of "plays" in these markets and you need to figure out which to engage with and which ones are best to steer clear of.

Also read all JollyGreen's posts. Then read them again. And again. The penny will drop!! It will.

Good luck.

Been happening loads on the AW and occasionally on the jumps and it's one big bot IMO.

Nothing to do with a race just finished as this never happened a few months ago :)

Don't forget there's a lot of profit taking and rebalancing going on too. I blame it on those pesky traders.
It usually shows up more on the weak markets.
