Hello Dallas and everybody,

I found a reply you posted on another topic regarding automation cycling time and refresh rate:

"The desktop refresh rate is near the left side of the main banner, while markets are running in guardian they are refreshed using the refrseh rate set on its main banner.
Once a market switches to your desktop that market is refreshed using your desktop rate.
Have a read of this thread as it explains how guardian refrsehes markets and the effects this has on automation
viewtopi ... 37&t=11491

It was written prior to streaming being introduced when the fastest refresh rate was 200ms but the principal is still the same just with faster refreshing avaliable now"

Does that mean that if a market is in guardian at streaming rate (20ms) and that same market is open on the main BA screen at a refresh rate of 500ms, that the automation will use the 500ms refresh rate of the main screen rather than the guardian 20ms rate?
If so, then would you advise NOT to open the market on the main BA screen and only use guardian for automation?

Another question: When placing a back fill or kill bet with greening in an IR horse race automation, I know it will take 1 second delay to place the back bet, but will take another 1 second delay to place the lay bet?
If so, would you recommend placing the lay bet in small batches to have them placed (and matched) more quickly?

Thank you,

Laurent

It will refresh using the quickest method still,

If your main trading screen was 500ms and guardian was 20ms with 10 markets that means each market in guardian is being refreshed every 200ms (including the one on your main trading screen).
If you had 50 markets in guardian then each market would be once a second except for the one one the trading screen which will get refreshed each 500ms

Thank you Dallas,

Just to make sure I understand this thoroughly:

So basically, the refresh rate is determined by guardian, except for the active market on BA main screen which refreshes at the rate of the main screen, correct?
If I'd like to use an automation file running while I'm away, restricting refresh to that single market, I better NOT have it open on the BA main screen to have the best refresh rate possible, correct?

Best regards,

Laurent

If the refresh rates where the same it would'nt make any difference if you switch it to the main screen or restrict the refresh in guardian if its just cycling the one market at a time.
