Football, Soccer - whatever you call it. It is the beautiful game.

Well I think all they need are some handkerchiefs, bells and sticks because with all the twirls they do around one another in the centre circle you'd swear they were Morris Dancers!

It's like a game of pass the parcel, not football! Each player takes it in turn to have the ball and then it seems a case of "uh oh..you have it now!" That does include passing it to a man in a green shirt..a camouflaged one at that!

Possibly one of the worst performances I have seen by England.

That was a disgrace, what the heck is Capello doing 6M for managing England with "Managing" being the operative word.

Why was Joe Cole not brought on we should just use the players from the Championship in the side at least there would be a bit of PRIDE.

Lamentable

I've always maintained that Postman Pat and Fabio Capello are one and the same

On that theme I have one thing more to add

Should've gone to SpecSavers!!

Was he watching a different match?

Capello is not to blame, his cv and professional record is immaculate. I heard no criticisim from anyone during the qualifiers about his management skills and tactics.

There are eleven supposed world class players on the pitch who need to accept responsinbility....

I'm not saying Capello is to blame I am trying to make light out of what was a dire performance. My comment was aimed more in jest that he seemed to be talking about a different game.

For the record I am not a Capello fan, never have been and never will be even if by some miracle we win the World Cup. However, it wouldn't make any difference who was in charge of England because our players are simply not good enough.

Rooney is world class, Ashley Cole is a world class left back. Gerard is close but perhaps not quite World Class IMHO and the rest you can forget. I think those three would have a chance of getting into a World 11 but I cannot see anyone else making it.

My son is desperate for us to win the World Cup and I have told him all along I would love us to win it but I don't believe we are good enough. He was close to tears tonight!

Winning the world cup is one thing but beating a lowly team like Algeria is quite another. To compare this to NH racing we stumbled at the first, almost unseated the jockey at the second and it's an open ditch next! Buckle up baby it's going to be a bumpy ride

Thing is they got the kick up the backside 2 years ago when they failed to qualify for the Euro's! I loved Rooney's post match comment - "Nice to see your own fans booing you." I WONDER WHY!

England are limp biscuits I'm afraid.

Not being English myself I perhaps don't have the emotional reactions some of you folks do. Objectively, it was always clear that England are an average team at best, and every world cup the English media hugely over-hype their chances saying this time its going to be different - it never is. They were way over-priced from the start and as usual, layers of England made a fortune.

I agree with Zenyatta. England was overestemited before the start of the WC and now so Uderestemited. England can still qualify or win their group stage. History showed national teams that Draw all 3 matches to go and win the Wc, some other teams have lost the opening game to go and play the final. However, english media are not worse then spanish media. for me they are indeed the most ridicules on this planet. they keep claiming that spanish football has not rivals but as soon they lose a game it`s the catenaccio fault, it s the ball fault, it s the referee fault, on and on for ever about their bad luck etc etc. I think 12.5/1 for England is an esageration. It will be a great trading opportunity still. Capello ain`t steve MCclaren, I can`t see them winning the wc but, surely capello will remind the english players the importance of the shirt they are wearing. tactically they are playing very well but, pride, luck and phisical strenght still missing. If they qualified that may come on the way... good luck.

One bright point from the match from me, I managed to collect some quality data on odds movement in a dull, 0-0 with a heavily odds on team.

I was trading the 0 - 0...it started off around 17..seems to stay up there for ages..loads of opportunity for scalping...very easy to rack up a sizable green at those odds..it is very tempting to trade out..but every now and again, it can be a bumper pay day!

Would be interesting to hear your interpretation of the data you uncovered?

Thanks
Regards
Peter
PS I did trade out..I though.."Its just a matter of time before England score!" Doh!

Hi PeterLe....hope you are well :D

I was sat watching the game with my son and he knows what I do. He also knew what strategy I was playing and he kept asking for updates on the price. I have the laptop in the corner for opportunities.

Anyway, after 20 minutes of play he said "put some money on 0-0 Dad because this is dire and it's going to be scoreless!"......out of the mouth of babes!
