Morning all

I had a quick look at this card because Master Jake is one I have opposed in the past and made good profits from. He is quirky to say the least, in racing parlance he is called a dog! He has more gear on his face than I care to imagine.

This horse is clearly a difficult character to train based on how he runs his race. Dan Skelton and his family are top notch when it comes to horses so I am sure they are trying everything they can to iron out his quirks. He travels well enough but he is not what you would call a true bridle horse, the jockey has to let him know it's a race. If you see the odd bit of urging from the jockey it is quite normal.

Un Prophete is favourite and whilst a bit low in price does deserve to head the market.

Forest Des Aigles is a French Import and his connections are pretty shrewd when it comes to getting one ready. This horse went in my notebook LTO when he was supported at Ayr. He's been off since then and as mentioned in the racing press, perhaps they have found the issue? That cannot be truly known but I see money is coming again today.

Clan Legend has a tongue tie today so perhaps he's had a breathing problem.

How to play this race?

This is competitive and you cannot really rule out any of them. If you are happy to go in play on the odd race then a Back to Lay on Master Jake should work. Anything at or above 4.5 is a decent price and look to lay off where you are happy. I know that sounds a bit woolly but we are all different. If the race goes to plan I think you should get 2.10-2.20 and perhaps down to 1.7-1.8 if he puts in another decent run. He traded 1.7 1.06 and 1.95 in his last three runs so I am optimistic you will get a profit.

Small stakes and enjoy if you play.

Ran okay but that's about it. The low was 3.0 which wasn't anywhere near what I had expected.

I think they will have to try better ground with him. I think soft would be okay but I think heavy puts him under too much pressure and his comes up!

The horse is very consistant, and certainly the form book says he loves the heavy ground , indeed his trainer has stated this , and the horse has never ran on ground better than good to soft, even won one of his PTP in Ireland over 3miles on heavy

He had a toungue tie and cheek pieces applied for his last two runs prior to Kelso , which may imply he has breathing problems, as he has faded alarmingly in some if his races , and also did not run on and carried his head high at Uttoxeter. It may be that he's he's feeling something which won't let him carry thro his effort, rather than him being ungenuine.
