I agree with most or what you say, but to trade markets which are five minutes apart ( in reality a lot less) and to do so efficiently every single time , well I couldn't do it .
My issue with Posting P/L ( and I do exclude certain respected posters ) is that it can be selective, it does put pressure on those less successful traders, and it is now so easy to post fake profits ( can give you link to fake Betfair B/L screenshot builder but I won't)
I'm pleased you made the point about the number of markers D traded today, a lot of the time posters don't want to say what they really think, for fear of causing offence etc, or getting lambasted for it ( tell me about it !! ).
Like you say we're all hear to help each other
By the way Another 2/2 for Chris Gordon today . Wonder if the stables Golden run will continue into next week, check his entries.
Usually there is only a " small window of opportunity " with these stables , but his horses are still over performing
Today's Horse Racing
For me I avoid all handicaps if I can help it, I don't particularly like Irish markets but if I can see an opportunity from across the water I'm on it, today for example I made most of my profit on Irish markets but usually I do avoid 'em, don't like anything priced above 3.00 either, 3.25 tops.. works for me anyway, made £90.28 today.. traded 7 markets
I do think you can over trade and get lazy , picking markets that Have a profile that suits you makes sense, and if your comfortable just trading a certain price range then why not.Korattt wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2017 8:44 pmFor me I avoid all handicaps if I can help it, I don't particularly like Irish markets but if I can see an opportunity from across the water I'm on it, today for example I made most of my profit on Irish markets but usually I do avoid 'em, don't like anything priced above 3.00 either, 3.25 tops.. works for me anyway, made £90.28 today.. traded 7 markets
As long as you enjoy what your doing
Just shows how different everyone is. I've just checked, and the average entry price of all trades (70% back first, 30% lay first) on my most successful methodology, is 16/1, 95% of which have been in handicaps. I'm not scared of trading big prices, sometimes at well over 50/1 and 100/1, but I'll rarely lay at over 20/1.Korattt wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2017 8:44 pmFor me I avoid all handicaps if I can help it, I don't particularly like Irish markets but if I can see an opportunity from across the water I'm on it, today for example I made most of my profit on Irish markets but usually I do avoid 'em, don't like anything priced above 3.00 either, 3.25 tops.. works for me anyway, made £90.28 today.. traded 7 markets
Ireland is indeed crazy, so reducing stakes is advisable. But I've increasingly learned how to trade maiden races more effectively. NH flat races are still pretty much a no-go area though - they're just a bizarre little world of their own. And Friday and Saturday evenings on the AW require very special caution - I've had numerous absolute disasters there.
Dave, I'm more of a mindset that rather than leaving a certain market alone and never touch it, be more selective in the number of markets and trade any if you can find an opportunity.

There is a horse in my Tracker thats running today. 3.35 Ffos Las- Audacious Plan.
My note reads. Moves like a top quality horse, worth a bet at two and half miles or less on quicker ground.
This isnt any special information, but it had caught my eye, It moves really nicely. The way it runs you would think it was a top quality horse and I think It is running in a class that is way below his ability.
Currently 8.6. It pulled up last time (going over 3miles which is completely excusable, back down in trip today)and if it wasnt for that I think it would be favourite today.
My only concern is that it moves like he wants good ground, has the style of a horse who wants a hard surface but at 7/1 I think is a silly price.
This is just my opinion and thought Id share it.

Interesting to note the above two Irish meetings ...read a blog about the no of Irish winners at Cheltenham this year , and it was remarked that the above meetings tend to get overlooked but that the likes of Vroum Vroum Mag, Hidden Cyclone , and Champion Hurdle and Supreme Hurdle winner Brave Inca among several others have all won on the corresponding card over the years.
Some quite competitive racing on those cards, Racing in Ireland on a Sunday is always worth watching
Certainly on a winning mark on some of his previous chase form has been rated around 130( running off 115), but hasn't shown that level for awhile, and would be concerned a bit about the form of the stable...1 winner from last 37 runners .. trainer stated in her stable tourSeaHorseRacing wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2017 1:48 pmThere is a horse in my Tracker thats running today. 3.35 Ffos Las- Audacious Plan.

"He has been slightly disappointing but he has come down the ratings now and hopefully he might win one of those staying handicap chases. He probably wants better ground and you could see him to better effect in the Spring."
Which makes you wonder why she's running him over 2m4f on Heavy ground over hurdles . Stranger things have happened tho
Flos Flas 15.35
For what it's worth the value bet could be DEEBAJ an ex Mark Johnston now with Richard Price, another small stable who has had 2 winners from its last 3 runners
Prior to finishing 4th on heavy ground at Haydock it had been running in C1,C2 Hurdles races at odds of 66/1 and 200/1.dropped 3lb since that last Lingfield run and with Stan Sheppards 5lb claim looks decent value at around 10.5
Likely fav ALF 'N' DOR a C/D winner on heavy might be the danger but looks poor value at 3.8 ( can see that drifting a tad )
Be interesting to see if there is money for DEEBAJ

If I have bets in the markets well away from the price and set to cancel why do they sometimes get matched against SP during suspension? Not a problem with bet angel but something strange with betfair SP

I havent experienced that... but I always make sure there are no unmatched bets in the market before the off, just becasue I can get carred away with a trade and forget I have some positions hidden out of the ladder.dragontrades wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2017 3:15 pmIf I have bets in the markets well away from the price and set to cancel why do they sometimes get matched against SP during suspension?
