Hi, I am new to the BetAngel forum although have been using BetFair for years. Obviously there are hundreds of ways you can back odds before laying them for a profit before an event starts and vice versa, but I would like a few more experienced users views before attempting any trading myself :)

I have mainly been looking at trading on football, for example the England Germany match this afternoon. I am just testing at the moment but in the total goals market for '1 or more goals' I have had £100 matched at 1.15 and am now trying to lay the bet at 1.14 for a £1 profit although have been waiting for a match since last night. Obviously I would need to be using larger stakes to make any decent money and I am not even sure if it will get matched due to the money in the queue. Does anyone have any views on this?

Secondly I have been looking at the match odds and see England to win in 90 mins are 2.66, with the pricegradually dropping. Is this where people would generally gamble on the fact that England to win odds are going to drop even further and would back the 2.66 before hopefully laying at around 2.6 before the match starts? Views on this would also be appreciated?

Many thanks

It's certainly possible to trade footy pre-match. I think you might meet with more success if you focus on the Match Odds and Over/Under 2.5 goals markets since these are where most of the money is and they're the most well established. You need to have a good knowledge of the match you're trying to get involved with as well. Keep your news feeds up to date!
