Hello, everybody
Since my Bet Angel doesn't work properly (I'll open a thread about that, tonight or tomorrow), I decided to use the web interface for my very first in-play. It turned out to be a "brave" (or plainly bad) decision. At least, I was wise enough to bet low...

I saw match Lopez-Lopez vs Kubot-Zverev. Prices were 1.33 to back Lopez-Lopez and 1.45 to lay against. I laid €3.5 at 1.35 and pretty soon got matched. Then I backed them with €9.5 at 1.44. (It was my first day at betfair and some practice was all I wanted)
When my second bet hasn't been matched until few hours before the match, a player in me got awakened and I decided to "play for a win". I cancelled the unmatched bet and sharpened my teeth for in-play.
Lopez-Lopez made a break, but I wasn't afraid. I laid against another €10, at 1.13. After second lay, I had liability €4.8 and potential profit €20 (great for such small risk). I could (and maybe should) leave the position as it was, but I was waiting for Lopez-Lopez to run out of steam to partly close the position, I wanted a small reward if they win and a nice win if they lose.
Lopez-Lopez continued to play well and I tried to make one more lay at 1.08, but was slow and left unmatched. From that point, the prices - with many small backward movements, but with great, unstoppable force - continued to grow. It was only last finesse left - to lock the win by backing Lopez-Lopez with 10-12 euros at 1.48 or better. But it was easier to say than to do, I was just too slow for that stage of match. Only my third try was successful. I took the walk to the kitchen, satisfied with the outcome.

When I returned, something was wrong... It turned out that ALL my backing tries have been matched (my Firefox lied!). So I've actually backed Lopez-Lopez with €36, not €12! Then I suddenly became very, very slow. I was looking, and checking, and looking, and checking... Then I mildly defended by backing Kubok-Zverev with €10. Then I was again looking and checking... Finally, decided that I have to bet at least a tenner...
But I couldn't move!! I sat stoned, petrified, frozen - as a rat mesmerized by cobra. Seconds were going by and by... Finally, the match was closed, leaving me ~€7 down, instead of €8 up.

I am very glad to hear whatever you have to say, but at the moment, I'll focus on the most urgent question:

In the web interface
Are there a fast and reliable way to determine whether a certain bet is matched, without refreshing the whole page?

In the Bet Angel Basic
I don't use Bet Angel yet, but I'm interested in the same issue
Are there a way to prevent the mistakes I made?

Thank you in advance
