The race time from Chester is telling me it is ridding Good to Soft. Keep an eye on gambles with this going.

Sea Horse... you keep Speed figures... any chance you could answer a question:
Race types: Gp1, Gp2, Gp3, Lst(A), B, C.... H
I roughly know the lbs difference between the grades... but in terms of time... what is the average difference between the different grades... ??
I understand if you don't fancy answering, but I was thinking you might know and might not mind replying as it is quite a general question.
PM me if you would prefer.

I had a bet matched on US Army Ranger at 3.4, there have now been three non-runners.
I wasn't planning on letting the bet run so will be trading out before the off. Haven't had this situation before, so how does this work? It's trading at 2.9 now and I'm in a small red...

I have a set of standard times which are based on 0-75 handicaps for all courses. Which is 110 rated over the jumps... my jumps records are a mess simply because of the mess of the times casued by the BHA so I havent quite managed to do it and its a lot of work.ajdal wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2017 2:45 pmSea Horse... you keep Speed figures... any chance you could answer a question:

So I can only answer this on flat racing.
I use class ratings based per track so to answer your question the best I can.
The terms of lbs as a 5f group 1 will have different size in lbs to a 1m4f group 1.
As a rough guide.
A group 1 over 5f compared to a group 2 is around 3lbs difference. A group G2 to a G3 over 5f is around 7/8 lbs difference. Its a very good question as it is so hard to get right due to the fact that most group 3's are trials and are usually won by group 1 horses on the flat.
Although I do have a lbs per length meter this based per each track due to the course characteristics and quality of group races.
My speed ratings are calculated on the weight of the pace and age. I have found this is the most reliable way to work out the true race time. The reason being as I explained the other day.. better quality races can and are usually run slower then weaker races and that is due to the weigh carried.
If you have a more detailed question PM as id be here all day answering each separate distance and track.
In terms of times you can use this file to work out out the time difference if any help. These are RP standard time and anything over 7f dont trust at all.

Hey, thanks for your great reply Sea Horse...
I do get the difference that different weight is calculated over different distances... I was more curious that since you keep speed figures whether there was a difference, in your analysis, between time and the normal weight scale which is rated (on the flat) about 135-50 (with exceptions)... if a length is roughly 0.2 sec (I think)... a 135 horse should beat a 50 horse by 85 lengths over 12f if both ran to form... or 17 secs... so what I was wondering is does that get reflected in your speed figures ???
I find it very hard to believe a truly run Gp1 over 12f will be run about 13 secs faster than a 70-60 stakes race over the same distance... which is about a furlong (?).... so to save me researching it I thought I'd ask someone who is passionate about this aspect.
