Hi guys,

I will be attending the thursday meeting at perth this week, just thinking do any of you have any experience trading live at the even via mobile and does it provide advantage over on stream? Im aware the betfair mobile app is a lot slower to refresh so this may kill edge Also will any of you be attending the same meeting?

Wander down, between the 1f and 2f pole, and see how many traders u can spot.

I put the over/under, at 8 // thou, u might not spot them all.

Tell tale signs i will revert back with a photo on the day haha! Mobiles out/On the phone to someone trading from home on faster API? :D

I would expect they'd have a custom written app for the phone which is one-click for whatever they wanted to do. In other words, person at the track acts as the trigger, phone app does the bet execution. At least that's what I'd do!

Its been a long industry .. I recall seeing a guy .. lets call him, 'man on the steps', who literally stood on a portable pair of step ladders, at the 1f pole, maybe 8 yrs ago.

He won fortunes.

Now, these traders make it harder for the in-box traders, who are paying a lot, for a seat, so they have become discreet, or get stopped.

There are many ways to trigger a bet. Have seen devices attached to binoculars, a touch pad on a leg, or arm.

Such a fascinating world, do these traders who pay the money get access to internet and personal laptops then??

Its a different world, but pretty competive.

There is, I think 1 box at Cheltenham for the whole yr, the fee agreed, was in excess of £40k .. lets say they get 5 people in there .. its still a good chunk of change.

For that sort of money, they probably have fibre installed ...

Totally unrelated, I don't know why but this reminds me of a guy in Las Vegas back in 1998 who was card counting using a device strapped to his inside leg. The battery leaked and he ended up seriously burnt and was banned from all the casinos on the strip. :lol:

loved that series, Breaking Vegas. was really fascinating the lengths those people went to to beat the house
