If a bookie pays you the ultimate compliment, and shuts down your account, is it illegal to simply open a new account?

Thanks

Not sure but I wouldn't have thought so, just remember to maximise the bonuses if you manage it ;)

I doubt if it's illegal - after all, you never stole money from them!

What sort of things they have in place to flag banned punters probably differs from company to company

I had Sporting Bet + William Hills close me down, but I've never bothered trying to re-open an account with either of them

Good point! ;)

Thinking about it again, I'm sure I'm on safe ground.

I haven't told any lies - I've moved address since I opened my original account, and if the bookie can't make the connection, that's not my problem!

I suspect bookies don't have rigourous procedures for stopping people from opening multiple accounts. If they did, then they would be stopping many people who had self-excluded themselves from opening a second account! Maybe I'm just getting cynical in my old age...

Well done! :)

Hills haven't shut me down, but they have restricted me heavily!

I haven't bet with Sporting Bet for ages - their maximum permitted stake size is tiny!

its not illegal however they can refuse you winnings if you are linked to a previously closed account. You can fight them over it but its a lot of effort  definately not reccommended

I wouldn't give the cowards any of my money if they closed me down, move onto others who are brave enough to take your dosh :D

I'm like a prostitute - I go with whoever gives me the highest payout! :)

It's not about the principle, it's about the money! LOL!

This morning, I closed down my existing account with Bet365, and opened a new one, into which I deposited about 500 pounds.

Bet365 later discovered the connection, but luckily they were willing to simply close my new account, reopen my old account, and refund me the 500 pounds! But next time, I won't be depositing anything like 500 pounds!
