Hi All

I would like to create an automation file for use on small horse race fields of 6 runners where you have an open looking race. The parameters would be that the favouite and second favourite are at least 3/1 each. The idea would be to place a back bet on the other 4 runners for profit should one of them win.

Any ideas how I would set this up in guardian?

The following are the main parts to what you need

Rule Type

Place Back Bet
Applied to 'Sorted in order of Favourtism' 3

Parameters

Stake by Book%

Conditions

Number of Selections
is less than 7

Fixed odds condition
Selection Sorted in order of Betfair Favourtism 1
is 'greater'
than 3.0

Then use the icon with two green arrows to duplicate the whole rule and on the general tab change applies to 'Sorted in order of Favourtism' 4
and repeat the for runners 5 & 6

Hi Dallas thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I'm certainly going to set this up as you suggested.
However I do have a couple of questions: 'stake by book %' does this mean that the software will apportion the stake pro-rata across the 4 runners? So for example if you entered £20 as the stake and you had a 5/1 and a 20/1 it would stake more on the 5/1?

The way I used to do this manually was using what may seem to be an odd way of staking but a method I found worked really well for me. lets say you had a field 3/1, 10/3, 9/2, 6/1, 8/1 & 16/1. I would stake £6 on the 9/2, 6/1 chances and £4 on the 8/1 and 16/1 outsider. The reason for this is that I learnt to identify the right type of race/course etc and I found that the outsiders would often outrun their odds so in order to preserve the chance of a decent payout I did it like that content with a smaller payout should the smaller prices win.

If it's possible to replicate this in Bet Angel I would be really grateful

The book% will ensure a equal profit on those backed (no matter what their odds) with a equal loss on those not backed , but if you have an existing staking method then you can use that but you may find lots of adjusting or additional rule/conditions required to account for the range of odds on the 4 outsiders you may get

Thanks Dallas I think it actually works better the way you've suggested by book %.
