Chris,

I received the same email yesterday evening so I wonder if it a generic reminder of their TOS (terms of service).

I am also currently testing strategies and can patiently wait for several markets before finding the right conditions for my trade. I'm guessing that this must be flagging up some sort of warning at Betfair HQ, triggering the "friendly" reminder.

At least they're not as aggressive as the TV licence people...yet!

when i started this trading i liked the idea of using the exchanges without fear of restrictions or account closures. it seems almost like the net is tightening, i thought that sports trading would be around as long as there is horse racing, football, dogs etc. now it seems they are making it harder for people to make money , when people make money they make money. now the commisions climb, premium charge, have to log in to get up to date prices, limit on practice mode. i can see the reasons why they do it but is it just gonna get harder, have some of us got into this at the end of the gold rush so to speak, has trading had its best days or will it evolve for the better?? id be interested to here other peoples opinions especially the more experienced on here, have you noticed it being more difficult or maybe easier??? thanks in advance for any comments.

That email is meaningless, odds are already delayed when not logged in however whoever wrote that email is an idiot because you can't access the API without being logged in...

I think thats the bit most confusing for everyone - had they just said those who are viewing their website via a pc/mobile without being logged in will see odds delayed by 3mins, that would make total sense to everyone

Jimibit and Mark H - Phew ..Thanks a lot guys that is a massive worry lifted, I've been worried all morning that BF were pulling my income out from under me. I did wonder if it was a generic email after my mate received it too - but there has been so much talk of restrictions lately it had me worried.

I think after this though i wont be using Practice Mode should i need to make any changes to my system - I think I'm sticking to small stakes instead when necessary. Its not worth the risk to my income.

Thanks to all for the info and help its appreciated :-)

Just to clarify Betfair have confirmed that this email has gone out to all exchange users (or will do) and they are not targetting any individuals. All they are basically saying is if you view their regular website from a pc/mobile without being logged in the delay on odds you will see have now increased for everyone from around 1 to 3 mins. As soon as you log in the you will see up to date information.

The following paragraph in the email was badly worded and is what's caused most of the confusion,

Odds are now delayed by a variable delay of up to 3 minutes (previously this was up to 1 minute) for customers that are not logged in (this applies to all Exchange channels – web, mobile and API) – so please ensure that you always log in to your account to receive the latest Exchange odds.

The part about API access was for those who have there own API App key and run there own software (it does not apply to Bet Angel customers) and even those users with there own app key will only get a delay if there accounts are unfunded or previously been restricted by Betfair - not because they are not logged in.

Thanks so much for that Dallas, it is definitely a relief to know it was a general email and not targeted at me :-)

I can now concentrate on today's trading... lol

Also let me take the opportunity to say thanks for all the Example Automation Files - they have been a massive helped in creating my system.

Cheers mate
