Yeah I foolishly jumped in for the sake of it. I don't do well when theres 2 or 3 favs similarly priced. Not sure why I thought that race would be different.

Seemed okay for me. Still a newbie so didn't have the confidence to push it too hard. Managed a respectible £6.99 haha

Stupid mistake on the £1+ loss, getting in and out every few seconds, unsure of where the price was going. Even the wins I got out too early on some of them, happy to take a tick or two to keep my winning run instead of taking a longer term view

<<<idiot

Waiting for the Irish derby now

Took the best part of 3 years to teach myself to stop making these 2 exact same mistakes. And they are vicious mistakes; in fact the 2 most costly ones for me. Learn them now, and you can save yourself a whole load of pain.

1. Don't jump around trying to guess where it's going.

2. Let the profits run, regardless of what's happened to earlier positions.

Learn these and you'll soon be ready for number 3:

3. (to be learned in another 1-2 years). Don't just let the profits run, but actively add to these positions. (to be done with care, of course)

Good advice, I refuse to use more than £5 stakes until I've largely (hopefully completely) cut them out. I think most people think that only actively trading the markets will solve those issues but it's a problem with mindset so I'm trying to read as much as possible about the nature of the markets as well as meditation to improve self awareness too. I've been trading on and off for a few years and should be far ahead of where I'm at but until I stop being fearful of results and the way the market moves I'll never get there.
