Hi,

getting to grips with the automation whilst moving over from my other software to BetAngel fully.

All I have to compare against is the other software in manual mode at the moment - when I put a back bet in to the market the most i can lose is my stake obviously. I then lay in running, hopefully for a profit and the green up if necessary.

When I try to automate this I set an initial rule to back my nominated selection at the off for the same stake with a tick offset of 25 and trailing stop of 25 and placed at 30. For some reason I am losing more than my stake in some cases - have I misunderstood something here?

Also - the trailing stop doesn't seem to lock in profit - just seems to trigger in some cases, again losing me more than my stake?!

I've adjusted my refresh times, taken out markets I'm not interested in from watch list etc. The screenshots in some of the manuals indicate there is a 20ms refresh time available? I can't see anything less than 200ms ?!

Lastly, how do I green up losses in my bot - seems to do it for profits within the intial rule. Should I have a separate 'green all selections' rule following it?

THanks for all your help - great bit of kit!

Cheers

Ensure you have ticked fill/kill on parameters tab to ensure your lay bet is only placed after your back is matched

Its best to run a green up rule after any stop/trailing stop has been triggered to ensure a level loss

You need to enable streaming to have these refresh rates

Yes you just need to add another green up up rule with the loss amount required

thanks Dallas - great info!!

In all cases my back is being matched, just can't understand why my loss is greater than my stake?! Even if my in-play lay is not being matched.

How do I capture a stop / trailing stop has been triggered to then run a green up rule on any losses?

Cheers

Next time it happens post a copy of the log for that race, that should show whats happening

It depends on your back / lay rules as to how its best done, but if your just backing (and offsetting or stop lossing with a lay) then on your green up rule you could use something like the following two conditions

Amount of matched bets condition
Amount of lay bets is > £0

Unmatched bet time condition
Is > 3 secs

thanks for that - I basicall have a back rule now with offset (25%) and trailing (25%, 30%) and then a separate green up rule that runs when unmatched bets after x seconds are >0

Would that be sufficient now to meet my objective or B2L @ 25% loss or ROI ?

I've added distance conditions to my green up rules so the green up losses occur at differing times based on race length (ie. giving longer to go in profit for longer races)

Thanks again for all your help thus far!

hi Dallas

I read elsewhere were u said

"Another option depending on your trading style and the markets your trading could be to try and always place an opposing bet immediately after you open each position (but away from the current odds) and use the take SP option – (this is something i always do when trading the pre-race horse racing markets) should Betfair then experience any problems whilst your in the middle of a trade any SP bets already in the market will still reconciled afterwards so you won’t face the possibility of a total loss of your opening bet."

Now I've have some questions to ask
1. How do u manage to place the opposing bet immediately after u open each position? do u automate it or use offset?
2. Do u click the take sp all botton each time or just once for the duration of the trade?

1, By using the offset with fill/kill enabled
2, If im manually trading yes i ve 'Take SP' mapped to a short cut key and anytime i have a open bet in the market I press it straight away as protection against outage

Yes apart from you can't create a shortcut key with Trader but you can still 'Take SP' just by clicking on it

Hi Dallas
Sorry my question may seem a bit silly but I honestly like to know if bot still work if I experience an unexpected internet outrage, I'm planning on trading pre race full time using bet angel but my biggest obstacle is my 'average' internet connection (which is probably the best I can get) is often goes offline on a daily, I can't think of bet angel guardian bot as a solution I want to use features like take sp, green up etc but my fear is my internet connection, please any suggestions?

If a connection is lost a bot cant perform any further tasks, you can look at using a VPS if your into automation and especially if you have a weak connection
