A call to action for all the racing experts to put some views up on the meeting.

From a trading perspective I've done very well at flunking this meeting on a number of occasions, but hope to do better this year after some naval gazing after last years effort.

Not sure about "racing experts" but I am happy to offer my opinions on a few races.

In the opener on the card I will be trying to trade my way to a free bet on Submariner. The horse has conditions to suit and is back down to the right trip with a decent draw. I would expect him to be ridden towards the front end before going for home a furlong or so out.

In the next I am going o try and get a few quid on the Noseda second string. We often see the so-called unfancied horses do well when trainers have two in races like this (remember Harbinger?) and Theology could be over priced at around 14/1 for a horse who won his maiden over course and distance before running so well in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot.

Finjaan at 6/1 appears to have drifted this morning but if he is back to his best, as the trainer has stated in the Racing Post, then I think he'll go close.

Good luck all.

Markets are very sloooooooooooooooow. Taking ages to fill any of my orders.

I can't get on with these big markets at all.

I found it surprisingly good. Maybe I had low expectations after the last couple of years but the fill rate felt pretty decent to me. Until the last race that is. Why can't every race be on terrestrial!

Last race at Beverly beat the volume p/s in that last race at Goodwood.

This was a weird one, it looks like somebody had backed this heavily by mistake.

Already an interesting situation developing in the 15:25

Too much matched on the back side so unless this person is willing to risk substantially more money on the lay side they could get into trouble if you start eating away at the lay side of the market.

API froze quite badly for me in that last Goodwood race, almost similar to how it froze before when it went down completely a while back. Everyone else experience the same thing?

Betfair screwed up the market completely by doing a very late R4 on that race so the whole thing was a mess. It took a little while for the market to settle after the R4 as well. I went from a nice profit to a small loss thanks to that. Don't know why they couldn't suspended after the race was run.

It's been a busy start today!

Sorry to hear that but I would much prefer they do the WD's before the race starts as it makes Back to Lays much more difficult to calculate etc when they don't WD before the off.

Also I really like the late withdrawals as it causes the market to go nuts as people rush to exit positions etc making it very gappy and very jumpy.

And as with yesterday the RF's can sometimes not represent the WD horses current odds and therefore create some good trading opportunities.

One man's rubbish is another man's gold and all that.

I was lucky enough to make a bit due to the crazy activity that happened after the rule 4, roughly the same amount that I lost earlier due to the freezes. No matter what you do or how careful you are sometimes it just comes down to the lottery of whether you'll get lucky or unlucky if betfair screws up. I half expected the market not to reopen after the rule 4 suspension.... that really would have been fun!!

Froze for 5 seconds that time. Surely I can't be the only one? When it started working again a small green had turned into a 120 red. Somehow managed to end up in profit (a lovely 5p... happy days!)
