The markets are so weak and lifeless I think I'll take the afternoon off and wait for Belmont.

It doesn't help having a string of maidens/novices.
the markets are good this afternoon. why on earth would you rather trade that dross (the markets not the quality of the racing) as oppossed to the uk and irish markets.
Enjoying todays markets as well, not bad at all for a Sunday

Tbf I can make the same amount on a £10k traded harness race than I can on a G1 at Ascot, just depends on what your style is and which market plays to your strengths.

I've only dipped in and out with one eye on markets this afternoon but they've felt ok to me

You trade just Belmont in the US? Or the other meetings too?
I trade on most US meetings, they're good for arbing as well.

A while ago I had £50 with Bet365 on a 16-1 shot in the US. I traded it for a free bet on the exchange at around 5.5 !

The horse went in and netted me a few hundred. Can you imagine that happening at Newmarket ?

Needless to say, Bet365 along with most bookies have restricted my stakes to about £1.50, but it was great while it lasted. :D

They've certainly livened up now. I'm an early trader and like to start an hour before the off. I know it's probably unorthodox but you can build up some nice greens or free bets with the extra time.

on the strength of some bet (sometime ago in the past) that you managed to lay off for a free bet that lucked out in your favour, you decide to trade illiquid volatile markets over liquid stable markets.

strange.

That was just an example; I've had many free bets that have netted me a tidy profit, and here's another one: -

£40 on Who Broke The Bank at 7.48, traded around 5 for a free bet of £90, and Alabandus 10>7 (£55). Neither of them won but that's not the point when it comes to free bets.

And here's a real shocker that I was too late to get on, 33-1 > 2-1 !!!

If I remember correctly, this favourite did go in.

US racing may be short on liquidity but it's certainly not short of spoofers.

A grand was available to lay at 5.1, and although the graphic doesn't show it because it wasn't taken, a grand was available to back between 7 and 8

I know it's not practical to go into these markets big-time but it does show that there is opportunity to make some cash on these markets.

(It's probably the cat and mouse game that I like).

If you put in a couple of trades 17 ticks apart that all got matched, that sounds like good judgement to me. :)

I think the scale of your graph is exaggerating the fluctuation.

Love those reversals, so satisfying when they come off.
