Hi,

Im new to this forum and betangel and I hope noone minds me asking for some help in regards to a somewhat unrelated matter. I figured that this could be the place where I can find the right answer.

The thing is that I am desperately trying to find a proper ressource with the "right" kind of soccer statistics, displayed in the "right" way so that it can be easily thrown into an excel sheet on a daily basis without any hassel.

I will show and explain what I am looking for. Here is a link to an MLB site that will help me explain.

http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/schedu ... p?c_id=bal

At this page the current season is nicely displayed, and each match is neatly arranged, within each individual team, on a line by line basis.
I'm looking for something like That - but it has to be soccer - and just the major leagues would be fine; premiere league etc.

I would like the "columns" to display both fulltime and halftime results. If possible I would like the corners as well, but I can survive without them. But the more info per line the better, and I definately need more than just the fulltime result and THAT seems to be the major problem - this info is often not displayed (at least at the places I have looked).

I have already searched a ton of sites and checked all of the links on the "recommended links" topic and still come up empty handed.

I need this ressource as a "feed" to a system that I am making on Excel. It depends on me being able to update the system with results on the current season a daily basis. (I have past season results, no problem).

I hope I managed to explain myself well enough. If needed I will try to elaborate.
And sorry about the lenghty post.

Have you had a look at http://www.football-data.co.uk/ ?

Their data seems to have everything you want and more.

Hi Bob,

It is an awesome site that you recommend. I used the downloadable files to set up my main database actually. - They contain very comprehensible results, that's for sure.

But it is not my understanding that they make all of that nice data available on a daily- and easily accessable basis.

What I am looking for is actually a combination of the comprehensive content of those files, combined with the easy accessability of the various match results (which are found from the countless soccer pages who unfortunately only feel like displaying the full time results and nothing more).

I have litterally browsed some 100 sites and I am just amazed that all of them only seem to find the full time results relevant. There HAS to be a site that also display halftime results, corners, cards and such in a nice and neat fascion on the same page arranged by rows and lines.

Anyway. Your recommended site is very close to what I am looking for. But I have browsed it quite a bit and it seems to miss the daily update option which is essential to me.

Thank you for your time and effort though. :)

You're welcome. :)

I'm not sure how often the data is updated on the site tbh as I don't use it in anger yet. I was under the impression that it was at least updated weekly though. Which will not suit your needs, but at least it has proved useful in getting some old data. Good luck in your endeavours/search.

I believe it is updated twise a week. In lack of a better ressource I could make some use of it. But I am a stubbern kind of guy, so I'll keep looking until I find exactly what I am looking for.

But in regards to "old data", it is undoubtibly the best ressource that I have come across. I'd be quick to recommend it also.

Have you looked at this one:

http://uk.soccerway.com/

I use it quite often for head to head stats etc

Hi Auldsoldier,

I have looked at soccerway and unfortunately it is just not what I am looking for.

I will write some more details to try and elaborate what I am trying to find. So from here on out I am adressing anyone who reads this hoping that someone knows exactly where I can find what I am looking for.

The Head to Head "function" and any kind of piled up information is just useless in my case. - What I need is simply a pretty basic line of numbers... But I need it for each and every single match played during a respective season.

I do not need to know that X-team won 10 of 20 matches and has scored 22 goals in total etc.
Information that is "piled up" like this is just not detailed enough.

I need to know exactly which matches were won/lost/drawn and where the goals were made/lost.
I need this for both full time and half time and it has just proven to be a surprisingly daunting task to find this very basic and simple information.

So my problem is not the fact that the various soccer sites do not contain the information that I need. The problem is the way by which they choose do display it - they just summerize- and pile everything together - and most of them will not even display the halftime results, and still they will still claimb to be the "biggest and best" statistics sites on the web...

I will try to summerize what I need, and what I would like to have in relation to my request.

I need a nice and simple overview of all matches and all teams. (Which contains)

The fulltime result (no problem at all)

The halftime result (hard to find, not impossible)

Corner results/totals (if I relied only on soccer stats sites to learn about soccer, I would think that the game has no such thing as corners).

Date (not a problem)

League position (easy to find in a summery, but quite difficult to find on individual matches - It can be calculated though).

Cards (on the sites that has this information, one usually has to open a new window on each individual match to see if there were any cards given - there has to be an easier way to retrieve information like this).

Fouls/Shots on Target/Shots off target (It would be nice to find someone besides football.data who bothers to display information like this).

If I could find a place (or a few places) that display(s) the above information in a reasonable- and excel-friendly maner, then I pretty much have everything I need at this time.
(I do not NEED all of it though, but I would sure like to have it anyway).

I just wonder WHY is there not a soccer site on the web that has this pretty darn soccer-related information on their soccer site- and on each individual match?
I honestly do not understand it, and I feel that there HAS to be something that I have missed or overlooked during my search, because this is pretty basic and relevant information I think.

Sorry about my complaining, but I am just tired and frustrated about not being able to find something that should be readily available and easy to come by.
I mean... How many soccer sites must I browse to find some REAL soccer statistics, and not just an amateure-display of a fulltime result and a summery of some kind that a kindergarden kid could have put together.

What I need is the information that THEY use to make their crummy soccer sites with their useless graphs, curves, summeries and all of the other pre-calculated junk... ALL of this is made from what is actually a small selection of numbers, and it is those numbers which I need to find, so that I can make my own crummy- kindergarden calculations.

I have, however, fould 2 sites which partially fill my needs. Statto.com (to get league positions) and soccerpunter.com (to get halftime results).
These will have to do until I find another place (or more places) to get the other numbers which I need.

In overall I do not need stats that are complicated/fancy or calculted in advance. - I need the simple stuff which is used to make the advanced stuff. - It is like an analysis... I need to be able to pick things appart and look at each of them seperately. - I need to look at the "parts" and not the "whole", and my main issue is that most soccer sites only bother to display "the whole".

The thing just is that...
By only having "the whole" I am missing the parts.
But if I have "the parts", then I also have "the whole".

Knowing that a team won 10 matches will tell me only that, and NOT which matches were actually won.
But if I know exactly which matches were won, then calculating a 10 won total is a piece of cake.

Sorry about the lenght of this post. However I feel that I have now narrowed down what I need as specifically as possible.
