Do you know what... 7/2 that it would start was a pretty good bet... sorry mate, I really felt for you there...

I'm sure someone will point out the clues were there, but that was a good value bet in my book.
Agree it was good value . And clearly the best horse in the race .. but as you say the clues were all there in the form book .. it has missed the break on several occasions.

So how SHR could say it would win with such conviction . And have " his biggest bet in nearly three years " . Well it beggars belief .. stick to trading .. hmm
Hey Halliday... with hindsight your input and analysis was spot on, but it's not sporting to kick a man when he's down... you need people with convictions to help move the markets ;)

Just think of all those people who backed Lexington Sky off the boards... they didn't even get a run.

This graph reminds me why Ayr is one of my worst courses trading wise, but I'm doing alright today.

Not hindsight .. stated last night ....too many ifs to make a best bet in nearly three years

"

Last run was in a seller, where on official ratings it had 19lb ( plus its riders claim ) in hand of its nearest rival, which like the rest of the field was an out of form horse.Like the previous poster said it drifted in the betting before the off, owing to the fact that it had been slowly away in its previous races . It broke well and won easily .
There was no bid for it at the subsequent auction, but clearly trainer Richard Hannon wanted to move the horse on, as it was entered in next weeks Tatts Auntumn sales.
Looks like it's been sold privately as it is now with Scott Dixon .Rated 83, but never going to win off that mark, hence it running in a claimer.

On its best form entitled to be favourite, and at 3.00 one could argue that it represents value .. but it doesn't have anywhere near as much in hand on official ratings against some more in form rivals ...At least 2 of which you could make a case out for .. and if it fluffs it's lines at the start ...

Could win easily but too many "ifs " to be confident either way

Certainly wouldn't be brave( or naive ) enough like SHR to say it "will win " and can't see it starting at Evens either."

LOL... my mistake... you misunderstood me... I didn't mean you were after posting... I meant that with MY hindsight your analysis turned out correct.... and a very good analysis it was too, I enjoyed reading it.

im a great believer that trainers are creatures of habit, some target the same races every year, hit form at certain times, and some do well, with horses that run first time for them having changed stables etc

SANS SOUCH BAY was having his first run for Scott Dixon ... you have to go back to January 2012 for the last time he had a winner with a horse that had moved to his stable .. record is 2 winners from 42 runners .. A win strike rate of less than 5%

You really need to dig deep if your want to make those sort of wagers profitable !!

Made a bit of a hash of the 14:25, was almost convinced the fav was about to collapse - but Daphne just had none of it!
