How many of you have an agressive trading style like illustrated in that video ?

I'm way too passive compared to that...

There was a discussion recently on the subject of passive or aggressive trading - I think it was hgodden (or one of the usual suspects) who said that they had been teaching their girlfriend to trade and had told her that they would prefer to see some losses than simply see small greens - I think they were saying that small greens indicate that you are trading far too conservatively.

I have had some difficulty becoming aggreessive in my trading - I picked up the mantra "Preserve your capital" after about 3 months of some disasterous results and have followed it religiously since then. Now whilst I am in profit, the profit should be 5 times what it is. I take an $5 or $8 profit and then realise that if I had hung on a bit longer I would have had a $15 or $18 profit.

Finding the balance between safe trading (thereby preserving my capital) and being a bit more aggressive has been difficult - if anyone has some tips I would be grateful to hear from you.

Good (balanced ;) trading)

Lol it certainly wasn't me who said that! Small greens are fine, even if you can scrape a fiver a race then you'll be making more than the national average wage. As for teaching the other half (or anyone close to you to trade), that sounds like the perfect recipe for disaster!

I think a lot of how agressive you end up trading depends on your character and (though not ideal) your mood on the day. Really it should all come down to how certain you are of what is going to happen in the market, the more certain you are then the more aggressive you should be to maximise the opportunities you find. Most likely the guy in the video was very confident of what was about to take place and that he could exit safely.

Manipulation isn't it? Could have been really stuffed if the market had take out those fake orders?

Sorry hgodden - I didn't mean to impugn your integrity - especially if your wife wanted to know about "the girlfriend"!

cheers
