Appears to be back, just a temporary outrage but the look of it but we are going to be careful. Not going to be a big afternoon and the sun is shining so outside looks tempting at the moment!

It was still possible to bet into the exchange - I had a large 3 figure liability got straight on the phone to:

0844 871 5000 and they closed my position out for a scratch - horse lost so I would have won but I would sooner not have any position.

They said they weren't aware of any issue but he checked and said he couldn't load the website.

Bit odd but the exchange itself never went down it seems.

On a strange side note - I emailed BDP last night and ended the email with:

"P.S. Good to see the API not having any problems for some time :-)"

Started late so didn't realise till I came on the forum. Seems ok at the moment.

Seems stable now but no explanation from Betfair yet as to what happened.

Andy that's a good point about calling them, I was always told that you could never get through so it was pointless but obviously it's not!

I've had to call them a couple of times as a back up, on both occasions I got through pretty quickly and they sorted it out

I got through instantly and always have done though usually they can't do anything as they can't bet into the system either but this time they could. If you don't try you don't know.

I was on the phone and speaking to them within seconds of the API going - always have a sheet with the phone number and your TAN on it plus have them on speed dial and on loud speak so you can carry on trying other avenues as you speak to them. Also record the time and who you speak to in case you need to go back to the recording as all calls are recorded.

Whenever there has been an issue for me it is usually mid afternoon and mid racing. I have always failed to get through to them on the phone and it is basically sphincter time. I dare say there are many others also trying to contact them....

5 out of 5 I have always done my money :?

I was thinking of getting a pigeon.....
