Think I'm gunna have to give it a go one night, any of you guys be able to give me a bit of advice on which upcoming meetings in Australian I should have a crack on ?Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 3:45 pmI don't despise UK markets, they require a different approach, but I know exactly what you mean about Australian markets. I think my last 18 markets at Rosehill are profitable. Try putting a run like that together at Lingfield or Southwell!northbound wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 3:19 pmGotta say: the more I trade Australian racing markets, the more I despise UK racing markets. Too noisy and erratic.

I'm starting to get up at around 7-8AM UK time, trading most Australian races from that point on (avoiding NSW racecourses to avoid the turnover charge). Usually by that time of the morning you get around £10-30k matched pre-off. It's a good starting point.lukesanges wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 3:59 pmThink I'm gunna have to give it a go one night, any of you guys be able to give me a bit of advice on which upcoming meetings in Australian I should have a crack on ?
Not sure about earlier races.
Randwick starts 2:30 Saturday morning but make sure you understand the turnover charge limitations - trading more than $2000(AUS) and 25 markets. In theory you should be excused the first week and just get an email warning you about the charge but I had to argue with Betfair to get my first charge back.lukesanges wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 3:59 pmThink I'm gunna have to give it a go one night, any of you guys be able to give me a bit of advice on which upcoming meetings in Australian I should have a crack on ?Derek27 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 3:45 pmI don't despise UK markets, they require a different approach, but I know exactly what you mean about Australian markets. Besides Flemington, Caulfield, Randwick and Rosehill (the latter two NSW), liquidity is quite poor.
How can you trade on not NSW tracks? There is no money on that markets.northbound wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 4:03 pmI'm starting to get up at around 7-8AM UK time, trading most Australian races from that point on (avoiding NSW racecourses to avoid the turnover charge). Perhaps because I trade with low stakes for now, around £16-32. I'm still in my learning phase.
That said, I feel that my moves can be comfortably scaled to around £100-150 stakes in these sorts of markets.
Take a look at Flemington and Caulfield. It doesn't have to be Melbourne Cup or Cox Plate day, but any quality card.gallyn wrote: ↑Wed Apr 04, 2018 6:33 pmHow can you trade on not NSW tracks? Thanks for those replies which referenced mine. I'm in an interesting situation: I haven't worked for several years, having been able to make enough, by among other things, playing poker. I can't do that anymore - games have got harder, rake gone up, I can't do it. So, I turned to trading, but am very much in the infancy of that. And then this job came up. It's a great job, so fingers crossed.
Take a note that same processes occur in trading as BF squeezes their markets and traders while not giving appropriate attention to their needs: more fair tax system (getting rid of the premium charges, for example), attract newcomers to feed existing traders/bettors and etc.brimson25 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 05, 2018 11:04 amThanks for those replies which referenced mine.
