The final sentence says:

'Gala Coral, in a recent interview with this newspaper, said it would pay about £200m for the shops compared with £325m a few years ago. But a sale now would raise some much-needed cash for the Treasury and help sort the racing industry’s never-ending hard-luck tale of being short of money.'

Do you guys agree?

Not sure whether this is good or bad news. If they sell, horseracing gets a short term injection of cash but then whoever takes over will run it for themselves and no more profits will go back to the sport.

The industry has missed a trick in my opinion

They moan about the impact of exchanges, but rather than let the Tote die a death, they should try to rebrand it as an exchange. It would take time, but coming up with a Government backed competitor to Betfair would benefit everyone

It might be a good idea, but given the Tories' fondness for privatisation, I can't see it happening.

The government would also face accusations of entering a risky business venture at a time when it cannot afford to speculate.
