Knew I should have just stopped altogether. Just lost the whole days profit when my order didnt appear for near on 10 seconds :(

Not knowing if it had actually gone in, been matched, part matched etc etc is just riddiculous.

Time to watch the tennis. will try again this evening where it always seem fine.

Does anyone ever hear back from the BDP team these days? I never get anything back from them.

I use [email protected] I assume that is the right address?

Yeah they had always been good with me then just stopped replying. Though as if by magic I just got a reply from Neil who has always been excellent.

He said they were aware of no issues but would check.

He said it wouldn't be related to the old issues as that was a hardware problem at their end which has been fully fixed.

Hopefully this evening will be back to normal.

its difficult if its routing issues as the betfair api servers don't respond to data requests so you can't just do a traceroute. If your ISP uses newsgroups its sometimes good to try that avenue as at least you can write down your query and it is usually responded by a tech.

As with everyother day, the evening session starts and all works fine.

I have not turned off my PC or closed down Bet Angel. Everything is the same as it was at the last afternoon race yet now I am not seeing any slow responses.

Bizarre!?!?!?

Any explanations?

it has to be an ISP issue

Not impossible that they could be traffic shaping your connection, or some heavy user is online upstream from you?

Yeah that was what I was thinking but Zen don't traffic shape at all. Someone further down the line could be using a lot of connection I guess, no way I could tell I assume?

Thanks for the replies.

surely if that was the case you would see some deteriotaion in your overall connection through some basic speedtests??

Yup would have thought so and not noticing any difference on the speedtests.

It all has me confused and frustrated. Hopefully it is someone elses turn tomorrow.

Anyone else having connection issues today? Yesterday was fine but today it is as sticky and erratic as ever. Just doesn't make sense.

Yep same issue here - it is like banging your head against a brick wall though, seemingly no one knows what the problem is, not me, my ISP, betfair or BA. It is affecting far too many people imo to just be coincidental, all the forums are seeing people having issues.

Though tbh, with all the issues last year which I and others suffered from for months on end no one knew what the issue was or would take any responsibility. It seems to be a very similar issue as that was and that after months and months of badgering, emails and telephone calls and an awful lot of lost trading days and in turn profits was eventually discovered to be an issue with Betfair who eventually replaced hardware. Despite for months on end saying there was no issue there end and all tests we showing things were fine with them.

So I would not rule out that being the issue again here. In fact if I were a betting man and not a trading man I would put money on it being an issue at Betfair's end ;)

So I have resigned myself to just accepting degraded service and am just learning to cope with it as I cant afford to lose as much money to it as I did last time round.

Though to be fair both Neil at the Betfair BDP department put in sterling efforts as did all of the Bet Angel team. Lets hope it is however just a minor blip and not a return to the months on end of poor performance.

Good summary, Andy - and I concur with all of your points. I think a lot of us seem to be suffering with these problems which I agree sounds like too many to be coincidental. What I don't understand is why it affects some users and not others. It looks like a lot of us with different ISPs are getting the same problems, and I'm sure all of us have done the same investigate 'research' to determine what the problem is: contact ISPs, reset all settings, change laptops, try different phone lines, use wired connections, etc etc. And just when it seems as if the problem has gone away (like yesterday), it comes back and is often worse (like today, between 1pm and 4pm ish for me). It must be a hardware issue at Betfair but, as you say, they don't report any problems. Neil has been helpful in the past, but if nobody is complaining then they won't be investigating a problem. I lost 86 quid in one trade today because the screen froze and I missed a quick move that I would have cut out of. Just another example and all very frustrating to those that are affected. To those who are not I'm sure we sound like moaning old toads - but it's a bit like stepping into a boxing ring with a blindfold on. I really hope we can get to smooth sailing soon. Would love to know what the source of this is and, again, why some are not affected. Cheers - Moon

Early indications are that it is going to be yet another afternoon or poor performance - the first race was very poor for it.

How about others? Seeing the issues again?
