thank you, it’s just something that I haven’t been comfortable with in the past, guess that’s sort of a hybrid scalp/swing?
Not sure what you would call it.

Koratt, I'm still in my learning phase as well, so take my advice or feel free to ignore it. 8-)

When a crazy layer appears in one race, I usually take note. If the same happens in the next race, I try to back the horse when my feeling tells me the price has gone out too far.

Then hopefully it will correct back down and I'll be able to exit with a lay trade for profit.

Forget scalping when you sense there's a lunatic in the markets.

I’m not a scalper, been swayed away from that from a very, very good source, however it does niggle me when I get a day where nothing happens from a swing trade perspective, it’s not a case of FOMO, it’s more a case being swayed away from a skill set which does work for others, (and quite well it seems) & not being able to capitalise from it, maybe it’s time to learn scalping

Nobody really knows who the mad bomber is. Some suspect it could be Peter himself. :)

He/She normally trades 1 or 2 markets a year. Maybe more these days.

But we are talking £20K plus x 7 chunks to move the price one way or the other and then the price collapses.

If/when you spot it then everyone and their dog jumps on the free ride.

Obviously you have to be careful to get off otherwise you can end up with no money left in your account if you didn't have any stops in place.

Bottom line is if someone offers value in the market then it is our job to take it

Goodluck if the mad bomber disagrees with you. They seem to have bottomless pit of money if/when they enter.

But given they only seem to appear 1 or 2 times a year one would have to be pretty unlucky if they entered and you were on the wrong side of where they wanted to take the price.

If you see it happen then oppose it and let us know how you get on.

I know one person who placed a trade, they jumped in, he had no stops and lost his account balance in less than 2 minutes.

And don't forget, even if you have stops and the market moves at pace there is no guarantee you will get filled!!!!!

The problem with taking value when you see it is that the value might still be there at the off with no potential to trade for a profit.

Some did, most did not and had a very bad day indeed.

If you don't see an opportunity, there's no need to get involved, even if it means sitting out plenty of races.

However, there's an alternative. Be crazy, come up with weird ideas and test them in the markets using low stakes. Here are some random ideas, 10min from the off...

- Back a few horses 5-10 ticks above their current price, see how many hit it then revert down.

- Same as above, but this time back with £2 at 5 ticks away, £4 at 10 ticks away, £8 at 20 ticks away.

- If you see that the fav got backed heavily and market traded volume is < £50k, simply lay it then see what happens when the money arrives.

Simple stuff like this, not devised to make money right away, but to make you see price action in a different light and give you ideas for new strategies.

That would mean said people were not using a very sound staking plan

I don't know but he/she has caught out a number of people over the years. Usually you can spot it when large chunks appear on one side or the other and everyone panics and starts pulling money out of the market, sending the price rocketing up/down.

They have been known to do it then flip to the other side.

Its actually funny to watch everyone scrambling because they don't know whats happening.

I bet Betfair turn their phone lines off with the number of people calling to get their trades closed asap.

Only seen it once myself and I couldn't press the enter key fast enough to centre the ladder. Price was spiking allover the place.

Is there really any chance that the mad bomber's a woman?

Next you'll be suggesting she's a topless trader.

I don't know Derek. From a politically correct point of view it could be or there again it could be a 12 year old sitting in his/her bedroom with 12 screens and a direct 1,0000GB feed to the BF servers. :)

Nobody seems to know. Usually you get someone posting...."We haven't seen the mad bomber for awhile, has he disappeared ?" and then bobs your uncle and the next race 99.9% of people are crying, complaining, demanding BF take action or WTF just happened there etc.

I suspect Peter knows the identity... But don't quote me on that. Peace. :)
