Today I have trimmed the list down to those I believe will QOB (25%) IP. (or even HOB (50%))

I use the rule type; green all selections and the condition; Green all profit condition > (whatever 25% is of the original stake).
What this does is (when it matches) gives me a min of 25% and in many cases more, due to the volatility movement and IP delay.

Getting the sweet spot for the entry point is the fun part...can range from 1 hour up to 1 minute before the off. Maybe i should use a directional bot (backing) to enter the market during the morning, then let the IP bot take over the exit point. That way, tech permitting, I'd only need to focus on the selection process and set and forget.

Good luck anyone dobbing today, I'll be over in my local casino playing a poker tournament to try and qualify for day 2 on sunday. ;)
Just checked results (late night at casino, through to day 2 this afternoon)

Arthenian ran a poor race, just watched the review and in the S.life comments it said, ran without a fore shoe. So at least a reason of sorts.

Here's a .baf file I've tweaked from Dallas's thread. (Have altered the entry point and stake for a basic setting), so if anyone uses have a look and test out first and edit for own use. It does what it says on the tin.

I decided to take the plunge and signup for the Proform half price offer with the intent of QOBing. First try last night at Muss, Newmarket and Haydock. 11 selections using 25%, $20 stakes. 10 hit 1 miss, nice ~$50 profit. Early days but obviously a decent start.
Nice results!

Here is a link to a trigger file Dallas created which could also be used for dob selections. If the dob wins the race then you breakeven, if any other horse wins then you profit.

Interesting, will read later. None of the Qob's seem to win their races, so could be a way forward for sure.

Good thread, Chaps.

Something that isn't talked about very often with regards to B2L trading is risk management.

I've been fortunate enough to get some advice from traders doing this full time and thought I'd share:

1) In terms of stake size, only use 2% of your bank i.e. £500 bank, £10 stakes. That way, if a horse fudges the exit from the stalls or falls, you won't be in too much pain.

2) If a price hasn't reduced by 33% by the halfway stage, exit the trade. The exception to this, of course, is if you are trading a horse that is held up and tends to trade higher before shortening.

I very rarely use live video when trading B2L's now - I tend to go on what I can see in the ladder and the excellent in play trader tool.

Not much happening today.

I am going to go for Honey GG, not many races but good dob record and pace rating of 8.

Have fun.

Hi Guys,

Really good thread so thanks for all your input.

I am looking into dobbing and have seen a number of websites mentioned. Can anyone give me there thoughts on the below:

Patternform

Proform

In Running Trading

I know there are lots of services that you can pay for people to tell you horses to DOB but I would like to be able to research them myself.

Cheers,
Tom

There all useful sites. No need to pay for any services. winning warlock gives free dob stats each day, then just cross-reference with RUK and ATR to get an idea of a selections pace rating. If possible you a better off backing higher priced odds, if you back something at 4.0 then it needs to look like winning to get out at 2.0 etc.

Some here build their own database of dob/pace stats and post for others to use.

The idea is to try and pick horses which dob quickly, so high dob percentage > 70% and are either front runners or close up in the pace. You don't want to be backing a horse which runs at the back of the field. Yes it might dob but too many variables that could prevent it from doing so.
