I put through £53k. I noted the volume at the time I started, it was £175k and £975k when I finished. So I was 6.6% of that market!

what happens in these cases if you dutch both runners and for some reason niether horse finishes, (I know this is highly unlikely in a flat race but just hypothetically). Is the race void or do you lose your entire stake because neither of the horses has technically won?

Rather stupidly the race is void. Same applies to jumps races.

The idea is to win the race - if nothing wins you should surely lose, take jumping for example, if everything falls it is voided but why on earth should it be? Highly unfair on the layers imo. If it was a 2 runner race and a Dead Heat is it voided - nope so why should it be if the opposite happens?

So between hgodden and Peter you two alone were near on 8% of the market! Add in all of the other traders on BA and all the other applications, plus other things like hedges and it doesn't really leave much scope for Punters money does it!

Hi Hgodden,
Have you considered how you are going to spend your winnings! :) Mind you better than a loss!

It would interesting to start another topic...asking "Whats the most you have ever put through a single market?!"

Looking at some of Adam H blog entries, from Memory I worked it out that he must have been putting through circa £0.5m on some of the Cheltenham races?? (Seems a lot; maybe I'm wide of the mark there??)

regards
Peter

Lol. I can't imagine anyone putting half a million through one race however big, maybe you added a zero in the calculations?!

Hi H
Yes half a million seems a lot?
the way i worked it out was taking Adams return on turnover (which he had said was 0.17% on average) and then seeing what he would have to turn over to make a grand..(so 0.17% * 600,000)
Regards
Peter
....and anyway ...bet my missus has got through that in shoes over her lifetime! :P

If you catch a market just right, are aggressive enough and have long enough on the market, its perfectly possible to run into a six figure turnover on one race.

cant be many people putting a small house through a market? Most markets only do 500-1000k

An interesting thread, i look forward to the next 2 runner race i see! interesting that you managed to get 34k through, must have a large bank! I did pretty well on these too myself although i cant account for the sort of % you guys do!! .... would seem no big losses reported on these, maybe the bots come out worse off.
