Very much so. I've still got an old spreadsheet where I doubled my modest capital in the month of January, and a graph displaying my projected progress if I continue with the same growth rate (2^11*100)%. I didn't really expect to keep doubling my capital every month, but I wasn't expecting to make a loss in 2 of the next 3 months either.

As Derek said above, I think it's the oddly (both complex and) complete turnarounds in fortune that really leave you boggling at times in trading. Just when you feel you have a path, it all turns to backsliding, then it gives you a good chance again, then it's backsliding, then you feel you've got a steady run going finally.........and onwards, but not giving up just yet.....
