Hi guys,

I'm still trialling BA and I'm trying to test an automated strategy: lay a bet pre off and then placing a back bet on the same horse in running. However, I'd like the back bet to be placed at a particular price for the purpose of what I'm testing, and the offset feature doesn't give me that option. So how do I automate the back part - with offset, with a new rule, or some other way?

Thanks! :?

If you want to back it at, say, 20 ticks higher than the lay: do a lay bet with offset.

If you want to back at, say, 15.00 after laying it at, say, 4.00: do one rule to lay and another rule to back.

Just to add to Northbound's 2nd option, once you have done that if you added the following condition to your back bet rule

Amount of matched bets condition
Lay bets equal to following fixed amount
(enter the lay stake your using)

That will instruct your back bet rule to only trigger once your lay has been fully matched

Thanks northbound and Dallas, I'll try that 2nd option. My idea is not to profit from a lay to back and greening, etc in the usual way, but to use the back to rescue a lay bet that is very likely to come in.

Are there any similiar files in here that I could modify? I'll try and do it myself first though.

If you're using your back bet as a stop loss (not offset) then you will also need to add a 'fixed odds condition' to stop it being triggered until your odds are reached

Yes, I will do that. Do you think the back bet/stop loss should be placed pre off or in running? I'm thinking of a back at say 2 before the off with the fixed odds condition and a keep in play rule. Sorry for all the Qs, it's just that I'm not at home with the pc to try it. :)

Betfair will always match you at the best odds available when a rule triggers so if the current odds are 5.0 and you back at 2.0 you will be instantly matched at 5.0

The fixed odds cond will prevent the back bet from triggering until the odds you specify are reached ie,
Fixed odds condition
Selections last traded price
is less than 2.02

Got it. The last traded price setting made this work the way I want it to. Many thanks Dallas you're a star! :D
