Hi guys, this could be a basic question for some, but are there any 'rules' on how many places are paid on the betfair place markets?

For UK i believe the rule is 2 places for up to 7 runners, then 3 places for 8-12 runners, then 4 places after that? is this correct?

For USA, i think it's different as they have 'to place' and 'to show' from the research I have done. How does betfair handle this on the USA place markets, is it always 2 or 3 places or does it depend on the number of runners?

I just need to know to program my spreadsheet with guardian. I don't think Bet Angel tells you how many runners are placed so the best way to figure it out is via a formula. Has anyone else had to do this?

thanks for the help!

Surprised nobody has a view on this but thread has been read a number of times.
BetAngel - is there anyway to get this info in the excel template, or a way of inferring it based on existing information?

One way would be to look at the Book% to work out if it must be 2, 3 or 4 runners placed, so think i may incorporate this but it's not an ideal mechanism or completely rubust
