Do all bookies have SIS pictures? Has anyone ever gone into one and asked (for a little back hander) could you sit in with your laptop and make use of them in-play?
As there are no exchange shops in the north west, this seems like my only option to have a proper go at in-play!

I tried it on my ipad connected to a VPS..
Yes you have a slight edge but still too risky for my liking..
And anyway; I'd have to be making serious money to sit in one of them places all afternoon?? ..I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders when I walked out of there..quite depressing

Not the ideal environment that's for sure, but I'm just keen to see how much of a difference it makes really. I've heard figures of 3-4 seconds getting touted about for picture difference which seems like a huge amount!
If they don't have any kind opf policy stopping people from doing it I might give it a go...

I have already enquired myself to SIS directly as I am an in-play punter, about private subscriptions.
They came back to me with confirmation they dodo a private subscription but it only covers the races that are not shown by Racing UK (so ATR basically) and their annual subscription fee? £7000!
Needless to say, you have to weigh up whether it's cost effective!

Yeah I did look into that place but it seems it is no more. Shame, i'm from Liverpool, I would have thought that there might be a good enough market in the north west if you could target customers from Liverpool and Manchester - Warrington seems ideal.

I know some people make a good living from in-play betting, but I don't understand how someone can decide in a split second what a horse's true in-play odds are.
Even if I were to freeze the frame and study a particular horse's form, I doubt I would be able to gauge accurately, 5 furlongs from home, what its true odds were.
Have any large-scale studies been conducted into the efficiency of the in-play market?

iambaz - In response to your question, Yes I just use standard RUK & ATR channels to trade from. You're losing the edge against people at the track or those using SIS. For me it's just a case of using good anticipation skills in my favour to compensate for the delay. Experience heightens your level of anticipation without a doubt. Sometimes it works against me, but no more than for someone who trades pre-race would incorrectly anticipate the movement of the market.
Im sure as hell not paying 7 grand a year for a 2 or 3 second headstart! Even if it did turnover 7 grand MORE a year how can you accurately quantify it would unless you traded simultaneously with 2 pairs of hands, one with standard TV and one with SIS?!
